Dennis Keith Elftmann
Dennis aka ‘Bullet’ or ‘Elfie’ Elftmann was born on March 5, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN. to parents Emil and E. Gail (Kreidler) Elftmann. He was the oldest of three children. Dennis’ childhood years were spent in Minneapolis. He graduated from Minnehaha Academy.
Dennis worked for 33 plus years as a lab technician for the Koch refinery. In his earlier years he was a mechanic at a family owned Mobil gas station with Claire and Paul Williamson, and he did small engine repair for Scott-Atwater. Dennis was a volunteer firefighter for 21 years for the Bloomington Fire Department at station number 1.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, cribbage, card playing, polka music, smoking his pipe, feeding the birds and critters, and was known to fix just about anything. He spent many hours working as a pit crew member for many of his friends at Raceway Park and later attended races at Raceway as a fan in the stand.
A man known for his great sense of humor, Dennis passed away peacefully in the presence of
his family in the morning hours of Friday, March 30, 2012.
Forever loved, Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife, Margaret; children, Jan (Dave Lewis) Elftmann, Sandra Elftmann, Deb (Randy) Lowe, Ronnie (Jovi) Trebesch, Daniel (Michelle) Elftmann, Scott Trebesch, David (Greta) Elftmann, LeNita Johnson, Janelle (Harm) Alken; grandchildren, Olivia, Toni, Kristy (Dustin), Kasey, Marty, Alex, Nikki, Kevin, Justin, Ashlee, Lindsay, Travis, Jacob, Kaylyn; great-grandchildren Maison, Madeline, Arista, Laney, Gage, Kenzington-Jo; sister, Leigh (Dave) Oltmans; brother, Joel (MaryAnn) Elftmann; dog, Charlie; many other loving relatives and friends.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Emil and E. Gail Elftmann.
Dennis’s pall bearers will be friends from Raceway Park, John Lebens, Terry Larson, Steve Cheever, Todd Wilson, Mark Bronstad, Chris Bronstad.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 4-8 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home 833 S. Marschall Road, Shakopee and one hour prior to the service. The Celebration of Life Service will be on Monday April 2, 2012 at 11 a.m., at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home. Dennis will be laid to rest at the Shakopee Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Elftmann family.
