Alfred J. Huss

Alfred "Al" J. Huss, age 91, of Prior Lake, MN, entered eternal life on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at his home. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 4-6 PM, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake and on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 10-10:45 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake. Father Tom Walker will preside. Al will be laid to rest on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 12:30 pm, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN – Assembly Area Four. 

Al was born in Union Hill on April, 22, 1933, to Matt and Catherine “Katie” Huss. He was the youngest of three children. Growing up on the family farm in Union Hill, he attended New Prague Area Schools.

Al was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956, serving two years. During his time of duty Al traveled to Europe and was honorably discharged in 1958. 

After meeting on a blind date, Al was married to the love of his life, Mary “Betty” Naughter, on Nov. 29, 1958. Al and Betty settled into married life and moved to St. Paul, MN. Al and Betty were blessed with four children (Mark, Therese, Shell, Angie) before relocating closer to his home roots in Prior Lake, MN where they welcomed their 5th and final child (David). 

Al had great work ethics and had a successful career in working for multiple sheet metal manufactures and retired as an Operations Manager at Aries Precision Sheet Metal in 2003. 

Al was a family man who enjoyed family gatherings, playing Sheepshead and Euchre with friends. He enjoyed spending time outside, particularly fishing Prior Lake, northern MN lakes, and his Alaskan trips. 

Al will be remembered for his dedication and heart filled love of his wife Betty and will be dearly missed by many. 

Forever loved, Alfred will be forever missed by wife of 65 years, Betty; children, Mark (Jill) Huss, Therese (Michael) Coleman, Michelle Huss, Angie (Jerry) Halliday, David (Dawn) Huss; grandchildren, Cora (Frank) Smith, Josie Huss, Alysha (Scott) Riel, Simone Coleman, Josh (Tiffany) Youngvorst, Luke Youngvorst, Trisha (Sevy) Schurch, Tyler (Brittany) Halliday, Ashley Huss, Amber Huss; 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Welcoming Alfred home in eternal peace are his parents, Matt and Catherine; sisters, Lorraine (Francis) Wermerskirchen, and Adeline (Richard) Pitschneider,
