Allen D. Busse was born on January 4, 1944, in New Prague to parents Delbert and Rosalia (Oldenburg) Busse. Allen was the oldest child of four and grew up with his siblings in Prior Lake, back when it was truly a small town. Allen knew hand work early on, helping out at his grandparent’s farms, working on cars and being a firefighter for a short time.

Like many young men in the 60’s, Allen joined up to serve his country and fight in Vietnam. He served in the Army and did a tour in Vietnam. When he came home, he was proud to have served but chose to keep his experiences to himself and spoke very little about his time in the military.

After Vietnam, Allen walked into the Savage canning factory and not only found himself a job, but a future wife. Linda Marschall was working there and handed him a job application. After approval from Linda’s grandmother, they started dating, spending many Saturday nights together at the Carver Ballroom. Allen and Linda tied the knot on January 18, 1969 and started their lives together.

It wasn’t long before they started their beloved family. They had 4 children together, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Jerry and Jessie. Allen and Linda provided for their family in many ways, from the wood he chopped to heat the house every winter to the animals he raised to feed his family. He taught his children about hard work, kindness and a love of the outdoors. When the kids were young, Allen passed his love for car shows to the kids and spending time camping and fishing. Allen’s talent was also found in woodworking, where he’d create scrollsaw ornaments for the church craft show and larger furniture pieces.

As the family got older, Allen and Linda would travel, going to Germany and around the US, but their favorite vacation was a cruise they took in 1999 to Alaska. When the cruise was ending, they both considered staying up in Alaska instead of coming home, thinking maybe they found their new home.

In Allen’s later years, he found a new passion, being a grandpa to his beloved grandchildren, making his first grandchild a crib and dresser. When he wasn’t scrollsawing, he would be out fishing on the lake, or enjoying a carshow.

Allen’s humor, hardworking and strong-willed nature will be forever remembered by his wife, Linda; children, Jeffrey (Amy), Jennifer (Brian) Leff, Jerry (Liz), Jessie (Jon) Israel; grandchildren, Claire, Robert, Erik, Nicolai; siblings, Sharon Adelmann, Barbara Busse, Kevin Busse; other loving relatives and friends.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Rosalia; brother-in-law, Leo Adelmann.
