-The Family of Annette Jacobson
Annette Louise (Meyer) Jacobson was born August 15, 1946 at home near Elgin, IA to Melbert and Marie (Dennler) Meyer. She was baptized and confirmed at the Illyria Community Church near Elgin. After graduating from Valley High School in 1964, she furthered her education at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA. In 1966 she began her airline career with Western Airlines (Delta Air Lines) and retired after 33 years in the industry. She then worked for Northern Tool & Equipment for over five years before full retirement.
On April 19, 1969, Annette was united in marriage to Richard (Jake) A. Jacobson in the Illyria Community Church, Elgin, IA. During the majority of their marriage, they truly enjoyed living on their acreage near Jordan, MN, and loved sharing their little “piece of paradise” hosting several summer gatherings called “Hoe-de-Doe” parties. Traveling by air, rail, motorcycle, car, or truck and travel trailer, they visited many beautiful areas throughout the United States and Canada. Fishing and snowmobiling were favorite life-long sports. Annette enjoyed a variety of crafts and appreciated the support and knowledge of Jake in using the ‘right’ tools. She also loved baking (anything with chocolate!), creating her “Vikings” flower garden and vegetable gardening on her ‘garden on wheels.’ She also followed the Vikings, Minnesota Lynx, and Gopher’s football teams, playing cards with family and friends, caring for her cats, picking wild black raspberries and mushrooms, and lunching and visiting with friends and family. Annette’s positive attitude, good health, and a quick smile were characteristics admired by her family and friends. She felt very blessed to have had so many good friends throughout her life.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Jake; niece, Kris (Greg) Clowers; nephew, Monte (Dyan); several great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Lorraine Jacobson; sisters-in-law, Carol (Ron) Vought and Judy (John) Holt and their children, Mike (Cindy) Vought, Joe Vought, Travis (Tonya) Holt, Troy (Sara) Holt, Zachary
(Kelsey) Holt; and many friends and 174th St. neighbors.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and brother, Dennis Meyer.
