Barbara (Barbie) Cook, Age 43, passed away on 10/30/22, after a long battle with breast cancer.
Barbara was born on April 17, 1979 in Ohio. She was adopted to the Claire family when she was 8 years old. She lived in many places throughout her life from Alaska to Guam, eventually settling in Minnesota. Her favorite and most important job was being a mom to her son Hunter. She wore several career hats throughout her life, most recently as a truck driver, before that a prior authorization representative at Express Scripts, and prior to that was a baker.
When Barbara was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, she retired. During retirement, she had many hobbies. Her favorite hobbies were painting, clay art, drawing, riding her Harley, Notre Dame football, Green Bay Packers, cooking, and traveling. She also would tell anyone she met to get a breast examination, don’t wait. Her laugh and smile would light up anyone’s day.
Barbie leaves behind her son, Hunter and life partner Jennifer Murphy. She met Jen in 2008 and they deeply loved each other until the end. She is also survived by her mom, Marion Clare, many brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Ballard-Sunder Funeral home in Shakopee on 12/3/22 from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to America Cancer Society.
