Bethany Ann Israel (Ball), born on September 11, 1993, in Minneapolis to Mark Edward Ball and Judy Ann Ball, touched the lives of many with her radiant spirit and unwavering kindness. Her journey took her from Texas to Rosemount, Minnesota, where she left an incredible mark on the community.
Bethany attended First Baptist in Rosemount, where she excelled both on the basketball court and in the volleyball arena. Her love for music led her to play the flute, and she reveled in being the “favorite child.” As a young girl, she even pretended to teach her toys, foreshadowing her future as an educator.
Bethany’s passion for teaching led her to Hyles-Anderson College and later to Maranatha Baptist University, where she pursued her master’s in teaching. She dedicated herself to shaping young minds, leaving an impact at First Baptist and later as a bookkeeper at Pioneer Industries International. When the pandemic struck, she chose to work alongside her sister, embracing her role as a bookkeeper and saleswoman.
Bethany’s love for volleyball extended beyond the classroom. She coached at the Hammerhead club and, most recently, at Breck High School. Her presence on the court was nothing short of angelic—always smiling, encouraging her teammates, and striving for excellence. Bethany’s kindness and compassion touched everyone she encountered.
At an Apple Valley volleyball open gym, Bethany met Josh. Initially hesitant, she eventually said yes to his persistent pursuit. Their love blossomed, and they eloped in Jamaica during the height of the pandemic on April 30, 2021. Their joy multiplied when they discovered they were expecting their first child, Levy.
Bethany and Josh shared a love for travel, escaping the cold Minnesota winters to explore Jamaica and Mexico. Volleyball remained a constant in their lives, and they reveled in card games, board games, and dancing—even if Bethany believed she wasn’t particularly skilled at it.
Bethany embodied love in every sense. She never spoke negatively, always sought to help others, and wore a perpetual smile. Her light touched the kids she coached, the friends she played with, and even the newcomers she welcomed onto the court. Bethany will forever be remembered as a beacon of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.
In her memory, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life that continues to inspire us all.
