Beverly’s life story

Beverly C. Ploumen

On Wednesday, June 13, 1944 in New Prague, MN, Beverly Christine was born to parents Rainer and Mathilda (Wolf) Pint. She was the third of four children. Bev’s childhood years were spent in New Prague and graduated from New Prague High School in 1962.

Meeting the love of her life through mutual friends, Bev married Peter Ploumen on August 22, 1964 at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague. They were blessed with two children, Keith and Kathryn. As a family, they treasured spending many Memorial Day weekends with close friends seeing the sights of northern Minnesota.

Most of Bev’s career was spent being a dedicated a wife and mother. She treasured the years staying home and raising her children, until they became independent. Wanting to fill some time during the day, Bev worked part time as a house keeper for many years at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee.

In 1989, Bev and Pete took on a new adventure. They purchased thoroughbred racing horses and started racing at Canterbury Park. Each summer most of their time was spent watching the horses in Shakopee. Bev and Pete also made trips to watch their horses in Kentucky, Nebraska, Ohio and Iowa. They also enjoyed visiting different tracks in the southern states. Over the years, many fond friendships were established with other owners and personnel from the barns.

An avid gardener, Bev relished time spent tending to her flowers and a few vegetable plants. Each winter, she would sow seeds, nurture the plants and later transplant them in the garden. Bev also took pride in finding garden knickknacks at garage sales, repainting them and adding the new piece to her gardens. One of her greatest joys was the annual girl’s weekend with life-long friends. As a group, they love to visit casinos throughout the region, shop till they dropped and just being amongst great company.

In November of 2012, Bev’s world was shattered, with being diagnosed with cancer. She courageously fought hard until the end. The morning hours of Monday, May 27, 2013, Beverly was 68, when she passed away peacefully with family at her bed side, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, MN. Bev was Pete’s life and his everything! Keith, Kathy and Greg will miss her laughter, warmth and happy go lucky personality.

Deeply missed and remembered always by those who loved Bev, husband, Peter of Shakopee; son, Keith Ploumen of New Prague, Kathryn (Greg) Shetzer of Shakopee; mother, Mathilda Pint of New Prague; brothers, Roger (Carolynn) Pint of Florida, Donald (Sharon) Pint of New Prague, Douglas Pint of New Prague; other loving relatives and devoted friends.

Bev is preceded in death by her father, Rainer Pint. Urn bearers will be her best friends, Mary Jane Svobodny, Mary Parker, Ruth Dols, Diane Grabinger, Connie Bartyzal, Ellen Flicek, Donna Dols, Joan Weber and Mavis Kietzer.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 31 at 11 am, with visitation two hours prior all at the Church of St. Mark 350 Atwood Street, Shakopee. Father Thomas Merrill, O.F.M. will preside. Bev will be laid to rest at Shakopee Catholic Cemetery in Shakopee.

Bev’s family wants to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Francis Cancer Center for their support, guidance and kindness, during her journey.
