Bill Schneider

William (Bill) Schneider, age 73, of Jordan, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 26th, at 2 pm, with visitation starting at 12 (noon), at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 104 West First Street, Jordan, MN. Bill will be laid to rest at a private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Memorials are preferred and can be donated in Bill’s memory at k9sforwarriors.org

Bill was born on September 26, 1948, in Blue Island, IL, to Peter Herman and Lillian Ann (Secraw) Schneider. Sadly, before Bill was born, he lost an older brother also named William. Bill grew up as an only child in a German suburb of Chicago, IL. He attended a Catholic grade school, high school and St. Mary’s College in Winona. MN.

In 1970, Bill enlisted into the United States Army. During his nine years of service, he was deployed twice to Vietnam, as an expert sniper. Returning from overseas, Bill was invited to join and compete on the Army National Rifle Team.

Throughout his life, Bill held a variety of jobs from construction to managing a halfway house. After moving to Minneapolis, Bill spent several years working in pest control, but recognized an opportunity and switched to satellite television installation and repair in 1985.

Bill met his wife, Chris Ann Otis, while he was working in pest control. After dating for a year, they were married in St. Petersburg, FL on October 15, 1983.

In 1987, Bill and Chris settled in Sand Creek Township. They lived a simple life and enjoyed spending time outside and tending to their many gardens. Soon after moving to the country, they adopted Katie and Sadie, two of the many dogs to join the family over the years. Next came Samantha, Gunner, Riker and Pasha. Bill and Chris had an unconditional love for all their dogs and all the dogs loved them.

Bill served several years on the Scott County Planning Commission as the Resident Representative prior to joining the Sand Creek Township Board as the Road Supervisor. Serving with integrity, Bill was a trusted and engaged servant of the community. He was always happy to meet people with a business card and offer treats to any dog(s)!

Bill’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Chris; four legged companions, Mathis and Bigsley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul Ulbricht, Sally Otis, Sherri (Thor) Burt, and Ken Otis; nieces, Lori and Heidi; nephews, Gregory, Daniel, and Thor; relatives, and friends.

Bill was predeceased by his mother, Lillian (Leonard) Goetz; father, Peter Schneider, brother, William, and sister-in-law, Susie Ulbricht.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff at Shakopee Friendship Manor for their care, support, and love towards Bill. Your kindness and dedication will be forever appreciated.
