Bobbie Marshall

Bobbie Marshall, age 82, of Credit River, MN, passed into the Kingdom of Heaven holding her loving husband’s hand on March 26, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Roberta “Bobbie” Louise Ahrens was born on January 9, 1943 to Robert and Helen (Cordes) Ahrens in Chicago, IL. Bobbie grew up in Chicago before moving to Palatine, IL when she was in 6th grade. There she graduated from Palatine High School. Bobbie continued her education at Lincoln College, Northern Illinois University, and graduated from Chicago Teacher’s College.

On June 15, 1963, Bobbie married the love of her life, Robert Marshall, in Barrington, IL, and they started their beautiful lifelong journey together. Bobbie then began her career in education, teaching 3rd and 4th grade in Arlington Heights, IL, and later on in Bloomington, MN. In 1970 she left the teaching profession to raise their two sons, Robert and Christopher. It was important to her that she be an at home mom because she missed that love during her childhood. During this time, she was involved in many of the children’s activities, and she proudly served as president of the Burnsville Swim Club for ten years. She was also a dedicated volunteer with the Women’s Auxiliary of Children’s Hospital. After raising her two sons, Bobbie changed careers and became manager of the gift-wrapping departments of Dayton’s, Marshall Field’s, and Macy’s.

Bobbie's love for animals was evident throughout her life. She was particularly fond of her three West Highland White Terriers; Mac, Muffin, and Little Mac. She orchestrated many rescue efforts for stray cats over the years and always made sure the birds were fed. A fitness enthusiast, Bobbie was a regular at the gym six days a week for over 40 years, inspiring many to work out, keep working out, work out harder and never give up.

In her and Robert’s retirement, Bobbie loved to travel, favoring river and ocean cruises, with many memorable trips in Europe and the Caribbean. She also enjoyed re-decorating her home for each season, always making her house look beautiful. She loved wrapping Christmas presents with elaborate bows and decorations and was notable for spoiling her grandchildren.

Bobbie valiantly fought pancreatic cancer for two and a half years, and she was an inspiration to all in her relentless battle.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Robert E. Marshall; sons, Robert (Marjorie) and Christopher (Bonnie); grandchildren, Robert Joseph, Benjamin Charles, Robert Alexander, and Robert Lucas; and other loving family and friends.
