Carolyn sure made the most of her 89 years and proudly did so living independently up until her very last breath, as she passed in her sleep on April 28th.
Carolyn’s early years began in Roseau, MN, of which she was so proud (go Rams!). She studied at Moorhead State College to pursue a career in teaching. In college, Carolyn not only spent time in Hawaii, but she also studied abroad and traveled throughout Europe. She remained single as she began her teaching career in Baudette, MN and then embarked on life in the Twin Cities, living in Bloomington and teaching Business and Finance classes at Richfield High School, where she met fellow teacher and the love of her life, Bob. They made their home in Edina, MN. Carolyn was a devoted wife and mother to her only child, Matt, along with years of substitute teaching and working in her brother’s real estate brokerage. Once retired, Carolyn and Bob enjoyed spring through fall at their WI lake home and winters at their home in Green Valley, AZ. Her two granddaughters, Anika and Maija were her pride and joy! In her final three years, Carolyn resided in a Lakeville, MN 55+ community where she made many friends and enjoyed rosemaling, antiques, sports, cards, puzzles, and especially visiting with friends.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband Rober; parents, Nicholas & Thilda Johnson; and her brother, Neal Johnson. She is survived by her son Matthew; daughter-in-law Dawn; granddaughters, Anika and Maija; sister, Judy (Ardell) Magnusson; and brother, David (Bonnie) Johnson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, a private family service will be held in Roseau this summer.
