Chad David Maatta, age 54, of Farmington, MN, passed peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was at home surrounded by loved ones.

The family invites everyone to stop by Lakefront Park, 5000 Kop Parkway, Prior Lake, to see the bench donated in Chad’s name, after the luncheon.

William “Bill” and Dianne (Nolte) Maatta proudly announced the birth of Chad David on May 21, 1966, in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in Brooklyn Center, MN and graduated from Anoka Senior High in 1984. Chad’s nickname was the Mad Hatter.

Chad married Tristin LeRoy in 1993. They settled down in Farmington, where they raised their two children, Maxx and Kyla.

Chad worked for the City of Prior Lake for 26 years in the Parks Department. He took great pride in his work and used his artistic abilities to create logos on the hill for Lakefront Days, and many other projects within the city.

In his free time, Chad enjoyed camping, woodworking, superheroes, The Beatle’s music and especially family time. In his final weeks Chad purchased and wore a black top hat to commemorate his nickname Mad Hatter.

The legacy of Chad will forever live on in those he loved, wife of 27 years, Tristin; children, Maxx, Kyla; mother, Dianne Maatta; siblings, Craig (Holly) Maatta, Stacey (Todd) Engstrom, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Greeting Chad home in Heaven is his father, Bill Maatta.
