Cheryl’s Life Story
Cheryl Ann (Haus) Hamrick
On Thursday, January 5, 1956 in New Prague, MN, Cheryl Ann was born to parents Lester “Les” and Florence (Jenny) Haus. She was the older of two children. Cheryl’s childhood years were spent growing up in Jordan, spending time with her parents, sister, and many friends. Time spent with Cheryl was often measured in the quality of time and not the quantity of time as she traveled often. After each trip she was always welcomed back home with smiles, hugs and an abundance of love. Cheryl graduated from Jordan High School in 1974.
Cheryl’s career was devoted to personal relationships built on finding the proper medical equipment for children and adults that allowed them access to areas they have never been and activities that they otherwise would not have been able to participate. From 1973 – 1989, she worked for Theradyne Corporation and became their National Sales Manager. After moving to Alabama in 1989, Cheryl was employed with Sunrise Medical, where she was currently employed as an Account Manager for the Southeastern Region of the United States. She had a passion and gift for connecting with people that allowed her to provide equipment to improve the quality of life for thousands over her career. Through the years, she had a special love for her customers, with a lot becoming lifelong friends.
Cheryl’s life was truly blessed with the birth of her only son, Jason. He was a special edition to her life and she often called him her greatest achievement. Cheryl’s family expanded with marrying, James William “Bill” Hamrick on October 22, 1989 in Richfield, MN as well as welcoming two step-daughters to the family, Amy and Alison.
Enjoying traveling, Cheryl and Bill treasured their trips to New York City, Quebec, Canada and California just to name a few. She especially loved to drive the coast and watch the sunsets in San Simeon, CA. As a small family, Cheryl cherished her vacation and holiday trips back home to Minnesota to spend quality time with her son, daughter-in-law, sister, nieces, and nephews and later the trips became extra special with her ability to watch her two grandchildren, Kate and Ryan.
A meticulous dressed woman, Cheryl was known for her wardrobe and being dressed to the ‘t’ and will always be known for her red lip stick smile and perfectly painted red finger nails. Receiving gifts from her meant they were hand wrapped with much love with the ribbons and handmade bows representing her thoughtfulness and gift of giving. Cheryl will be sadly missed for bringing smiles, fun and laughter to any gathering. She and her family along with her, lived life with this in mind, “it is truly about the quality of time you spend with family and friends, verses the quantity of time.”
A resident of Daphne, Alabama, formerly of Jordan, Cheryl Ann Hamrick was 56 years young, when she passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, August 18, 2012 in Mobile, Alabama.
Forever loved, Cheryl will be deeply missed by her husband, James W. “Bill” Hamrick; son, Jason (Sue) Haus of Prior Lake; step-daughters, Amy Hamrick of San Antonio, TX, Alison (Eddie) Robertson of Hattiesburg, MS; grandchildren, Kate and Ryan Haus; step-grandchildren, Helen and Will Stransky; sister, Mary (Scott) Wilson of Le Sueur; other loving relatives and friends.
