Chhenglim Pay

Chhenglim Pay passed away on 01/12/2025 at St. Gertrude’s in Shakopee. Chhenglim had a history of type 2 diabetes and kidney failure, resulting in years of dialysis with unprecedented determination. 

A Celebration of Life will be held in Chhenglim's honor at 2:30PM with a Visitation from 1PM-2:30PM, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 833 Marschall Rd, Shakopee.

Chhenglim was born on 07/05/1940 in Peu, Cambodia where she was the second oldest of 4 siblings, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Chhenglim married Kimhout Seng and had a total of 9 children. Chhenglim and her family survived the Khmer Rouge, a Cambodian genocide that took place in 1975 - 1979. She came to the United States of America on May 22nd, 2002 and successfully gained citizenship to become an official Cambodian-American. Chhenglim resided in Savage, Minnesota with her youngest daughter’s family. 

Chhenglim was a kind, loving person and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Many of her family members and friends favored her cooking and were well fed by her and from being an avid gardener, often used vegetables she grew. She also loved walking and would often visit her neighbors and was often complimented for her friendly nature and how she always smiled and waved. Chhenglim was also a member and supporter of the Watt Munisotaram Cambodian Temple and spent many afternoons there. 

Chhenglim was a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, and great grandmother. The big family that came about, felt her love from within and the love was greatly reciprocated. 

Chhenglim Pay is survived by her sisters Cheng Ly and Chea, three daughters, five sons and twenty-five grandchildren with eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
