Chris Derendal, age 44, of Shakopee, MN, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
A Christian Funeral will be held for Chris on Saturday, September 24, at 11 am, at Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12700 Marystown Road, Shakopee with a visitation from 9:00-10:45 AM. Pastor John Stelljes will preside. A private family interment will be held.
Chris was born to Don and Barb Derendal on December 22 nd , 1977, in Evanston, IL. Growing up in Minnesota, Chris had a passion for playing sports, listening to music, and enjoying time with family and friends. He graduated from Burnsville High School in 1996, attended St. Cloud State University and Minnesota School of Business obtaining his Associates Degree in Business Administration. Chris had a great career at The Hartford.
Chris met the love of his life, Bonnie Plekkenpol while working at Valleyfair. They were married on July 27 th , 2002. Chris and Bonnie settled in the Shakopee area and were blessed with 2 children, Carter, and Ella. Being a dad was Chris’ ultimate joy and he was so incredibly proud of his children and their accomplishments.
Chris’ devotion to family, friends, his strong faith, his love of sports, and sense of humor will forever be missed by his wife, Bonnie; children, Carter and Ella; parents, Don and Barb Derendal; brother, DJ (Crystal) Derendal; sister, Becky Derendal; parents-in-law, Roger and Vickie Plekkenpol; siblings in law, Lisa (Jake) Hovden, Mike (Kasie) Plekkenpol, Richard (Jena) Plekkenpol, Neil Plekkenpol, Anna Plekkenpol, and Jeff Plekkenpol; grandmother-in-law, Harriet Plekkenpol; and many, many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to future college expenses for Carter and Ella.
