Clarence L. Jacobs
On Wednesday, August 23, 1916 in Thief River Falls, Minnestoa, Clarence Louis was born to parents Joseph and Agnes (DeForge) Jacobs. He married Clara Johanna Dahl in 1939, in Duluth, MN. Proudly serving in the United States Army, Clarence tour was during World War II. After the war, he worked for the railroad for many years, as an inspector.
Clarence and Clara enjoyed vacationing and fishing in Rainy River, Ontario. When Clarence grandchildren were small, he stated, “Some days I am grumpy and some days I am not…so call me Grumpy!” This name stuck with him the rest of the years.
A very proud veteran, Clarence was a lifelong member of the V.F.W.
The early evening hours of Sunday, November 4, 2012, Clarence, age 96, entered Gods’ loving arms at his residence of Sunrise of Edina, with his family at his side.
Clarence is survived by daughter-in-law, Mary of Richfield; grandson, Michael (Maureen) Jacobs; granddaughter, Eileen (Stephen) Kielblock; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Alec, Austen Kielblock; other relatives and friends.
Clarence is preceded in death by his wife, Clara; son, J. Lewis Jacobs and infant son; sisters, Florence, Evelyn and Ethel.
Pall bearers for Clarence will be Michael Jacobs, Stephen, Alec, Austen Kielblock, and Dave Cormier.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 10:30 am, at Incarnation Catholic Church, 3817 Pleasant Avenue, Minneapolis, MN. Father Kevin M. McDonough will officiate. Clarence will be laid to rest next to his wife at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, with full military honors provided by the United States Army.
