Pastor Jonathan Rundman will preside. Connie will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens in Burnsville, MN.
Connie was born on January 20, 1933, to Stanley and Alvera (Fredrickson) Peterson in Montevideo, MN. The oldest of three, Connie grew up in town before her family moved to Minneapolis when she was nine years old. She attended South High for a few years before going to work to help support the family. Soon after, she met Wayne Clark on a blind date. They immediately had a strong connection and dated for a while before Wayne was r ecalled from Marine Corp Reserve to active duty during the Korean War . When he got back, Connie and Wayne picked up right where they left off and were united in marriage on March 28, 1953, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
Together, they built their family and were blessed with three children, Greg, Cheryl, and Kim. Connie became a full time Mom and thrived in that role. She always supported her children and the activities they chose to pursue and was always there for them when they needed it. In 1958, Wayne and Connie built a home and settled in Savage, MN. As a family, the Clarks loved to camp and travel whenever they could. They spent time up at the cabin on Platte Lake and shared many memorable camping trips over the years. Wayne and Connie belonged to a “Camper Club” later in life, and traveled across the country in their motorhome, often going to the southwest during the Minnesota winters.
When they weren’t traveling, Connie loved her home in Savage and became the Mom and Grandma of the neighborhood. She was an “Honorary Grandma” to all! She adored her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Even in her final days, she wanted to hold her little ones more than anything. Connie was an excellent cook and loved tending to her flower garden over the years, supporting Wayne’s lofty flower aspirations!
Connie was a people lover, a caregiver, and most importantly, she was the best Mom ever.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Wayne; children, Greg, Cheryl, Kim (Craig) Mohlis; grandchildren, David (Megan), Andrew, and Ashley (Luke) Syvertson; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Brynlee, Leighton, and one more on the way; brother, Ronald Peterson; Goddaughter, Diane Carter; daughter-in-law, Christine; and other loving relatives and friends.
She is preceded by her parents, Stanley Peterson and Alvera Dixon; and sister, Yvonne Brewitz.
