Constance “Connie” Peterson

Constance “Connie” Peterson (81), formerly of Burnsville, MN, and Centennial, CO, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Grace Church in Eden Prairie followed by a luncheon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Please enter door 2 for the visitation and service. Burial at 3:00 at Spring Lake Cemetery, Prior Lake.

Connie was born April 25, 1943, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Jerald “Red” and Doris “Dorrie” Wickett. She had one younger brother, Bob. She grew up in many MN cities since her parents fixed up and sold homes. She was raised in Minneapolis, Mankato, St Paul, Richfield, Bloomington, and even in California for a while. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1961. She was married in 1962 to G. Steven “Steve” Skarie. They resided in Burnsville, MN, and raised three children, Cindy, Tammy, and Dan. In 1994, Connie found love again when she got remarried to Paul Peterson and moved to Centennial, CO. They had just celebrated their 30th anniversary.

Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was loving, compassionate, beautiful, selfless, wise, hard-working, had a great sense of humor, and dedicated her life to her family. She especially loved children and cute animals. Of course, her favorite animals were her beloved Pomeranians. They were her babies and were often treated like royalty. While she spent some time working in retail, most of her working years were spent running a home daycare where the children were loved and cared for like they were her own. In 1994, she married her second husband, Paul, and moved to Centennial, Colorado, where she enjoyed hiking in the Rocky Mountains, snuggling her puppies, taking care of her flowers, and rocking in her favorite glider or swing on the back patio. Also, among her favorite things were watching movies, eating ice cream (Dilly Bars), going to garage sales, keeping the neighborhood birds and squirrels fed, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could often find her on the floor playing with the grandkids. Her favorite holiday was always Christmas. She took great pride in setting up her Christmas village and knick-knacks. The holiday house lights would light up the neighborhood. She always made every corner of her home look so cute and loved when visitors would stop and admire her decorations.

Connie is survived by her husband, Paul Peterson of Shakopee; brother, Bob (Rilla) Wickett of Richfield; daughters, Cindy (Tim) O’Rourke of Prior Lake, and Tammy (Mike) Rivard of Sartell; son, Dan (Jennifer) Skarie of Shakopee; and stepson, Rick Rekstad of Plymouth; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other dear family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerald and Doris Wickett.

Connie’s kindness, strength, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory in their hearts always.
