Craig Allen Marte, of Montgomery, passed unexpectedly on January 7, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Monday, Jan 15, 2024, at Ballard Sunder Funeral Home in Jordan (104 First St. W) from 1-4pm.
Craig was born June 15th, 1960, in Shakopee, MN to Darlene (Farber) & Eugene Marte. Craig was one of 6 children. In 1970, Craig and his family moved to Jordan, MN, where he spent the rest of his childhood out on the farm and attending the local school. He began working early in life and found his love for carpentry. When he wasn’t working, he was out riding on his Harley motorcycle. Every year Craig organized a motorcycle rally in memory of a close friend who had passed away.
In the mid 1990’s, he found his soul mate and lifelong partner Darlene Annen. Together they opened a liquidated merchandise store in Jordan, MN and named it Stop and Shop. A few years later they decided to purchase a bar and named it Jack’s Bar and Grill. Craig and Darlene spent many happy years running the bar together but in 2018 decided to sell the business. After selling, Craig returned to his love of carpentry and began building houses.
Craig tried to keep as busy as he could. He was currently building his 4th house. When he wasn’t working on building houses, you could find him visiting with close friends and family. Craig was a man of few words; however, with the right company he could talk for hours. Throughout the years, Craig welcomed several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He spent a lot of his time with his great grandson Jayden. Jayden was the light of Craig’s life. Craig spent as much time as he could with Jayden; from watching Jayden ride the ATVs that he had gotten him to attending Jayden’s sporting events and getting a bite to eat after. Craig touched the hearts of many and will forever be remembered and missed by his family and friends.
Craig will be greatly missed by his Lifelong Partner, Darlene Annen; siblings, Peggy Marte and Mark Marte; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents, Darlene (Dick) Spencer and Eugene (Phyllis) Marte; Brothers, Robert, Steven, and Kevin; and sister-in-law, Kristine Marte.
