Glen D. Speiker, age 83, of Shakopee, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, evening February 1, 2018, at Emerald Crest Assisted Living, Shakopee, MN.

A time of gathering will be held on Sunday, February 4 from 12 (noon) – 3 pm and Monday, February 5 from 9:30 – 10:30 am, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee, MN, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 11 am at Church of St. Mary (The Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne) 535 South Lewis Street, Shakopee, MN. Glen will be laid to rest at the Shakopee Catholic Cemetery.

On September 7, 1934 in Credit River Township, in Minnesota, Glen was born to parents, Peter and Alice (Olson) Speiker. He married Mary Ann Nicholas on November 26, 1955 at All Saints Catholic Church, Lakeville, MN. They were blessed with four children, Deb, Diana, Robert and Richard.

For over 44 years, Glen was a heavy equipment operator for Cargill Inc. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, and was a competitive gardener. Glen loved animals, working in the garage, John Deere tractors and an ice-cold beer. He was an avid reader, bowler and Minnesota Vikings fan. Glen was also a member of the Shakopee Knights of Columbus Third Degree.

A very intelligent man, Glen had this quiet, gentle and kind personality. He was loyal, honest and straight forward. Glen was very generous with his time and talent and would help any one in need,

Forever missed and forever loved by his wife, Mary; children, Deb (fiancé Rolf Anderson) Walsh, Diana (Steve) Turek, Bob Speiker, Richard Speiker; grandchildren, Chad (Melissa) Boehne, Christopher Boehne, Travis Boehne, Tyler (fiancée Mirrala) Boehne, Jason (Jessica) Turek, Rachel (fiancé Rob Markland) Stevens, Josh (fiancée, Maria) Speiker, DeeDee (fiancé Reid Zellner) Speiker, James Speiker; great-grandchildren, Lilly Turek, Haley Stevens, Wyatt Markland, Andres Speiker, Devin Zellner, Jersey Zellner, Cadence Speiker, Anthony “A.J.” Speiker and one expected soon; many relatives and friends.

There to welcome Glen home is his beloved parents and sister, Virginia (Bob) Oglbsy.
