At the young age of 67, Daniel Wayne Peters, passed away surrounded by his loving family, at his home in New Prague, Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2014, due to surgery complications. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday, August 1, 2014, at 11 am, with visitation one hour prior, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation, 104 West First Street, Jordan, MN. Life Tribute Specialist Jean Breeggemann will be presiding. Full military honors will be provided by the Jordan Vets Honor Guard.

On November 23, 1946 in Rensselaer, New York, Dan was born to parents, Stanley W. and Geraldine E. (Fryer) Peters. Life for Dan was about simplicity. He was a kind, generous and compassionate husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend to many. Dan enjoyed telling stories, was loyal to family and friends, and was a good example of a Christian.

The oldest of ten children, Dan grew up in Rensselaer, New York. There he enjoyed running track and playing baseball. Dan graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1963. At the age of 17, he enlisted into the United States Coast Guard, to help subside his parents’ income. This path in the military, led Dan to serve two tours in Vietnam for the United States Army. But his career in the military spanned over almost 30 years, also serving in the National Guard, Reserves, and Army recruiting. Early on in Dan’s career, he was also one of the top fashion shoe salesman. He had this gift and wealth of knowledge, he could sell anyone a pair of shoes. Later on, Dan worked as a maintenance mechanic for Dean Foods

Life for Dan was most fulfilled being a family man. On October 16, 1983, in Austin, Texas, he married Noella Michele Paquet. Dan was a great father to Deanna, Daniel, Michele, Nadine and Frank. As a family, they spent most of their time in the states of New York, Texas and Minnesota. Over the last two years, Dan and Noel have called Minnesota home. Now his legacy lies within his grandchildren, which he adores so much and is very proud of them and their accomplishments.

Dan relished being a teacher to his family. He loved coaching his grandchildren the game of golf, instilling in them the correct forms and skills needed, to keep the balls out of the trees, bunkers and anywhere else they should not land. Dan had a special patience with his grandchildren also for fishing; especially taking lines out of hair, lips and trees and the unending task of baiting the hooks. He too loved to take control of the Dungey Motocross and Supercross command center, every weekend.

In his spare time, Dan was a jack of all trades. He could fix just about anything, especially engines. Dan enjoyed cooking and putting his own special touch on the dish. He and Noel in their earlier years, loved throwing darts. A true movie buff, Dan also loved the music of Neil Diamond and was known for the phrase…I can’t believe….

Left to honor Dan’s life and mourn the death is his wife, Noel; daughters, Deanna (Dale) Glenn, June Langilotti, Michele (Troy) Dungey, Nadine Capone; son, Frank M. (Robin) Capone Jr.: grandchildren, Anthony and Dalton Glenn, Seth, Christine and Jennifer Langilotti, Jade (Whitney) Dungey, Ryan (Lindsey) Dungey, Blake (Meghan) Dungey, Jonathan Dellegardelle, Riley Rolloff, Allie Capone, Frank Capone III, Meghan Capone, Cameryn Capone; brothers, Steve and Roy; sisters, Nancy, Deb, Dorella, Dawn, Jerilyn (Ed); and many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death and there to welcome Dan home is his son, Daniel; granddaughter, Kirsten; parents; grandmother, Mami; sister, Sharon; and brother, Wayne.
