David Francis, 68, of Minneapolis, passed away on January 31, 2019 at his home. A funeral will be held Saturday, February 16 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Oak Grove Lutheran Church, 7045 Lyndale Avenue South, Richfield MN 55352.
David was the youngest of three children born in Eau Claire, WI December 27, 1950 to parents Clarence and Mary Francis. He was preceded in death by grandparents Paul and Rose Paulson of Amery, WI; and Berton and Hatti Francis of Clear Lake, WI; as well as his mother Mary Emily Francis of Richfield, MN. He is survived by his father, Clarence Victor Francis of Belle Plaine, MN; sister Connie Jane Francis of Walnut Creek, CA; and brother Tom Arthur Francis of Jordan, MN.
He is also survived by brother-in-law Gary Ferrando, sister-in-law Karen Francis, niece Kathryn Francis (Michael Boerboom), niece Alyssa Francis (Peter Dully), and niece Roxanne Francis (Matthew Wahl). He loved his 6 grand nieces and nephews and tracked details of their lives closely.
David was an excellent student who excelled in music and art and graduated from Richfield High School in 1969. He studied at The University of Minnesota but did not complete a degree.
David was an excellent swimmer, loved water sports, and was fearless of riding anything that could be pulled behind a boat. David also loved nature, had many pets, and was enthralled with activities of birds and animals.
David suffered from anxiety during his adult years but the support of friends, family, and a deep faith in God helped him to cope. A voracious reader, David was well informed on political issues and current events, particularly those that involved his beloved Minnesota Vikings. He will live on in the memories of the family and friends that loved him.
