Debi Nelson, aged 61, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 17th in Baldwin, WI.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Debi’s honor from 1-3PM on Friday, July 26, 2024, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St SE, Prior Lake.
She was born in Superior, WI, and moved around Minnesota, Wisconsin, and New Mexico during her childhood. Debi had two children from her first marriage. In 1998, she married her beloved husband Rick Nelson and gained a gaggle of stepchildren. They spent many years living happily in Prior Lake before retiring to Glenwood City, WI, in 2020.Debi loved scouring garage sales for hidden treasures and was incredibly crafty, able to upcycle just about anything. When she wasn’t immersed in a creative project, you could find her relaxing in the garage while Ricky tinkered with motorcycles—they had a blast cruising around on Harleys together.
Known for her twisted sense of humor and the pranks she’d pull on loved ones, Debi always found a way to laugh at life’s quirks. She was strong-willed and had a knack for making the best of any situation. Debi’s presence will be deeply missed.
Debi is survived by her husband, Ricky Nelson; daughter, Lauren (Erik Glewwe) Preuss; son, Nick Preuss; stepchildren, Dwayne (Tiffany) Nelson, Danielle (Brad) Lovejoy, Shane (Lauren) Nelson, Chase (Karissa) Nelson, Autumn (Brian) Nagan, and Austin Nelson; brother, Marty (Debbie) Oaks; three stepbrothers; aunt and uncle Doris and Tom Hoff; and many other loving family members.
