Debbie’s life story
Deborah Romaine Augustine
On Thursday, December 3, 1953, in Edmonton, Canada, Debbie Romaine was born to Edgar Goulet and Sally McCadie. With her loving family present at her side, Debbie, age 60, passed away peacefully, after a courageous fight with COPD, on Saturday evening, January 11, 2014, at Fairview at the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis, MN. All the services will be held at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home 833 S. Marschall Road, Shakopee. Family will greet guests on Thursday, January 16, from 4-7 pm and on Friday, January 17 from 4-5 pm, with the Celebration of Life Service at 5 pm. Pastor Keith Missel will preside and Lori McCormick will assist.
Debbie was a devoted wife, loving mother and committed grandma. In recent years, Debbie opened her heart and experienced life with Christ. She was honest and straight forward with her words, yet had this comforting and gentle soul. Street smart, Debbie was in creditably intelligent and very intuited in nature. Through the years, she touched a lot of lives and hearts. Hardworking, Debbie took her responsibilities to the utmost. She was always on the go, sported a great sense of humor and created her own vocabulary, along the way.
Moving to Minnesota, when Debbie was 19, she fell head over heels in love with Lee Augustine. Coming from different ways of life, Debbie was raised in Las Vegas and Lee on a farm. Their love grew and on August 23, 1974, at a small chapel in Watertown, SD, Debbie and Lee wedded. Together, they raised three beautiful children, Shane, Ryan and Alicia. Later on in the marriage, they grew apart and went separate ways. With the grace of God, Debbie and Lee re-married on December 19, 2008, in their home. Over the last several years and dealing with her illness, Lee was her rock and her everything.
Enjoying life to the fullest; Debbie and Lee loved to travel, with special trips to South Dakota, Branson, MO, Grand Marias and Wisconsin Dells. As a family, they enjoyed many trips camping, in the motor home. Debbie’s favorite times were spent in Florida, enjoying the ocean. Her biggest passion in life was being a grandma and how they brought Debbie the greatest joy.
With a deep love of angel figurines, Debbie also enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, dropping pennies into the slot machines at Mystic Lake and spending time on the computer, playing games and exploring face book. She was a care giver to her stepfather and had a great love for animals, especially dogs and cats. Debbie loved the music of Elvis Presley and was an exceptional cook. Over the years, Debbie was a Black Jack dealer at Mystic Lake Casino, worked with accounts receivable at Schwans and Lee and Debbie even owned and operated the Video Vision store in Shakopee for years.
Deeply missed and remembered always by those who loved Debbie, husband, Lee; children, Shane Augustine of Shakopee, Ryan (Annabelle ) Augustine of Burnsville, Alicia Augustine of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Hailey, Joseph, Ryder, Elijah, Evan, Emmet; step-father, Felipe Robinson; mother-in-law, Virginia Augustine; many siblings; other loving relatives and devoted friends.
