On December 8, 1939 in Shakopee, parents Bernard and Clara (Hennes) Wolf celebrated the birth of their youngest child, Dennis Frank Wolf. From a young age, Dennis developed a strong work ethic working on the family farm near Marystown. Although he enjoyed school, he removed himself at 16 to work on the family farm and for Wolf Motors.
In 1969, Dennis started at MVEC as a utility lineman. To enhance his utility lineman knowledge, he completed self-study courses at the U of M. For 38 years, Dennis worked at MVEC in several roles, such as a utility lineman, Operations Manager and Vice President, Special Projects. Dennis loved working at MVEC—the challenges of the work were stimulating and equally important, his co-workers brought him a great deal of pleasure every day.
Dennis’ life was enriched when he met Myrtrice Busch at a dance in New Prague. The young couple exchanged wedding vows on June 17, 1961 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Their union was built on hard work, love, faith and patience. The result was 56 wonderful years of marriage and blessed with six children.
Two things defined Dennis’ life—his faith and family. When he was only 15 years old, his parents passed away. Despite this, the family remained strong, relying on one another and their faith to continue. Dennis instilled his strong faith in his children.
As a family, they enjoyed spending summer vacations in Aitkin, MN. When they were home, they could all be found in the family garden—planting, weeding and harvesting. Dennis always encouraged his children, whether it was taking swimming lessons or participating in 4-H or school activities. When Dennis became a grandfather, he was more than happy to care for them the same way he did his children.
Along with Myrtie, Dennis enjoyed traveling. They went to Canada, Niagara Falls, San Diego, and Alaska. A yearly highlight for them was the Fall Color Tour in northern Minnesota. The entire time Dennis would be taking photos.
As Dennis encountered setbacks in his health, he continued to relish life. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, learning new things, and always lending a helping hand.
Dennis was active in the community. When he was younger, he served as a volunteer fireman, was a member of the St. John’s Catholic School Board and the Board of Directors at Dakota County Vo-Tech. Often he could be found at church helping with yard work and funeral luncheons.
Dennis was a humble, patient man whose kindness extended far beyond his family. It overflowed to his friends, neighbors, and the community. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Myrtie; children, Michelle (Kevin) Moonen of Mayer, Terry Wolf of White Bear Lake, Alan Wolf of Georgetown, TX, Bruce (Sue) Wolf of Shakopee, Connie (Nick) DeRoma of Shakopee, Becky (Trent) Laughridge of Prior Lake; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 step-greatgrandchildren; siblings, Ethel Blumberg of Shakopee, Ken (Loretta) Wolf of Shakopee, Helen (Art) Buchtel of Shakopee; sister-in-law Laura Wolf of Jordan; brother-in-law, Ken Fischer of Shakopee; many relatives and friends.
Dennis is greeted in heaven by his parents; siblings, Werner Wolf, Leonard Wolf, Mary Fischer, Cyril (Vangie) Wolf; brother-in-law, Ed Blumberg.
The Wolf family has been proudly cared for by the staff of Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home.
