Donald “Don” Kroyer, age 62 of Prior Lake, passed away surrounded by his family on September 28, 2017. A time of gathering will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 9-11AM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake. Private burial at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
On November 27, 1954 parents Robert and Elizabeth “Betty” (Deutsch) Kroyer celebrated the birth of their son, Donald Edward Kroyer. He was the second of five children to grow up in Prior Lake. In 1973, Don graduated Prior Lake High School. During high school, Don helped local farmers with their work.
Following his high school graduation, Don pursued his true passion—construction. He proudly worked for John Mahoney Construction for over 30 years. Even in his free time, Don would help others with their projects. He especially liked building for people that he knew. Don also worked at Lowe’s in the lumber department for 7 years. He loved to share his building knowledge with the shoppers. More recently, Don worked for the SMSC.
Don’s life was enriched when he met a young lady, Patricia Pirnie, at Freddie’s on the Lake. Pat was drawn to Don’s gentle, caring personality. For over 30 years, they enjoyed their time together—going to the cabin in Brainerd and Robert’s Lake, being with their families, playing RLC, and cheering on the Vikings.
Don is survived by his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Kroyer; longtime companion, Pat Pirnie; siblings, Jerry (Barb) Kroyer, Ed (Debbie) Kroyer, Larry (Debbie Parizek), Debbie (Barry) Bengston; nieces and nephews, Mike (Sandy) Kroyer, Kelly Evans, Jessica Kroyer, Chris Kroyer, Joe (Jackie) Bengston; many great-nieces and nephews; special extended family, Troy Bobbitt, Jonathan Schoeb, Jami Marks, Alex Marks, Ethan Marks, Alivia Marks and special Godchild Emma Bobbitt; many relatives and friends .
