Douglas Eugene Jerde

Douglas Eugene Jerde of Rochester, MN passed away at his home on April 3, 2024.

He was born on July 26, 1935, in Marietta, Minnesota. His father Norman Jerde was a farmer, and his mother Teresa was a homemaker. Douglas graduated from Marietta High School in 1953. His high school athletic endeavors included baseball and basketball. On September 4, 1954 he married the love of his life for 70 years, Elna (Ellie)Streich. He worked in the sales profession for his entire life, for the last 41 years he sold personal lines and commercial insurance. He was a member of the Life Underwriting Association.

Douglas was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was involved in Community Bible Study, Men’s Bible Study and enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Bible classes. Douglas loved playing golf, cards, and Bingo! Early in Douglas and Elna’s (Ellie) retirement years, they spent the winter months in the Texas sunshine. During the summer months he enjoyed fishing on one of Minnesota’s many lakes.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dick Jerde, and Sister Jo Ann Stein. He is survived by his loving wife Elna (Ellie), four children Kristine Oscarson (Richard), Patrice Branca (William), Steven Jerde (Laura) and Craig Jerde, nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

There will be a funeral service held in Douglas’ honor at Redeemer Lutheran Church 869 7 th Ave SE, Rochester, MN, on April 15, 2024, with visitation from 10 to 11 AM. A luncheon will follow the service and a graveside interment will be held at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery, 6955 Prairie Vista Drive NW, Rochester, MN on April 15 th , 2024, at 1:15 PM.
