Elaine V. (Hillstrom) Chadwick, of Prior Lake, passed away on June 22, 2024 at the age of 90.
A Funeral Service will be held in Elaine’s honor on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a Time of Gathering from 9:30-11:00 AM, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 833 S. Marschall Rd, Shakopee. Rev. Larry G. Kasten presiding. Elaine will be laid to rest next to her husband, Eugene, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Elaine was born on January 28, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Arthur and Vivian (Granlund) Hillstrom. She graduated from Minneapolis South High School. Elaine was united in marriage to Eugene Chadwick on June 12, 1954 in Minneapolis. They resided in Minneapolis and enjoyed their cabin on Prior Lake for many years. With a plan to retire to Prior Lake, they rebuilt the cabin to a year-round home and moved there in 1987.
Elaine spent her career as an executive secretary at the University of Minnesota and the VA Medical Center. She retired in 1993. She was a member of Christ Community Church in Prior Lake and Minnehaha United Methodist Church in Minneapolis. She was a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star Minnehaha Chapter #37.
Elaine is survived by sister, Marlys Meskan; brother-in-law, Allen Chadwick; her special Dachshund, Soozie III; nieces and nephews, Linda (Paul) Pommeranz, Diane (Dennis Schwecke), Paul (Jill) Meskan, Christopher (Chrissy Miska) Meskan, Stephanie (Paul) Bagby, Ramona Langeslag, Roger Lawrence, Cheryl (David) Ellis, Lewis (Laura) Chadwick, William (Ann) Chadwick, Joseph (Nick) Chadwick, Edward (Lisa) Chadwick, many great and great-great nieces and nephews and many dear neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; sister, Lois Pundsack; brothers-in-law, James Pundsack, Larry Meskan; sister-in-law, Norma Chadwick; nephew, David Meskan; and great-niece, Jordyn Meskan.
The family wishes to thank Elaine’s many caregivers, most especially Maggie, Shay and the Brighton Hospice team. Thanks, also to her medical team, Dr. Scott; Dr. Moss for her cornea transplants; Dr. Samuelson and Dr. Davies for managing her glaucoma.
Memorials to A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation, as a lung cancer survivor or Lions Gift of Sight – University of Minnesota in recognition of the three cornea transplants she received.
