Floyd Bertrand Carlson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world peacefully, with his daughter by his side, on July 16, 2024 at age 84.
A Time of Gathering will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Ballard Sunder Funeral Home in Shakopee, MN (833 Marschall Rd.) from 12:30 – 2:00 PM. Following closing words, a luncheon will be held at the funeral home.
He was born to Emil and Johanna Carlson on September 3, 1939. Floyd grew up in Minneapolis, MN along with his three siblings Ralph, Lois and Herb.
Floyd married Sandra (Sandy) Manning on August 19, 1961 and moved into their new home in Bloomington, MN. They later had two children Deb who was born in 1964 and Doug who was born in 1966. They enjoyed family vacations up north at Osakis and Woman Lake with extended family, out on the lake fishing for hours. Dedicated to his career at Rosemount Engineering, Floyd became the Purchasing Manager where he later retired after 39 years. While working at Rosemount Engineering, he met and married his late wife, Patricia Carlson. They were married on October 7, 1983 and began their life together in Shakopee, MN.
Floyd continued to enjoy many different activities, including golfing, playing cards, fishing, hunting, bowling and camping. While camping up on The Horseshoe Chain of Lakes, Floyd jumped on the opportunity to purchase the open lot for sale next to the campground, where he later spent much of his time enjoying the outdoors lakeside, with family and friends. In the off-season, Floyd and Pat would take trips down to Brownsville, TX where they spent several months together escaping the harsh Minnesota winters.
He really just enjoyed the little things in life like spending time outdoors with family and friends. Floyd was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his sister, Lois Bischof; children, Deb (Curt) Lembeck and son Doug Carlson; stepchildren, Carrie (Tim) Boys, Kathy (Brian) Sandberg, David (Christy) McCutcheon; grandchildren, Jen (Dylon) Fuchs, Andrea (Jeff Vial) Lembeck and Matt (Chloe) Lembeck; step grandchildren, Michelle (Casey) Campbell, Megan (Jason) Sichting, Matt (Caitlyn Ferdig) Boys, Jake Boys, Scott Sandberg, Nicole (Brandon) Brown, Katie and Mia McCutcheon; great grandchildren, Reegan and Graham Fuchs; step great grandchildren, Flynn, Cody, Hazel and Hudson Boys, Lexi and Warren Sichting, Olivia and Liam Boys, Morgan Boys and Arlo Brown.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Carlson, parents, Emil and Johanna Carlson, brothers, Ralph and Herb Carlson.
