On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, Gary Eiden, age 72, passed away peacefully at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN. He was a resident of Park Rapids, MN and formerly of Prior Lake, MN.
A time of gathering will be held on Wednesday, July 5, from 4-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake, MN and one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 6 at 11 am, at St. Michael Catholic Church 16311 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake, MN. Father Tom Walker will preside. Pall bearers will be Tom Redmond, Brian Langenberger, Christa Kaczmarek-Larson, Barb Berger, Tom Eiden, and Dennis Bauer. Gary will be laid to rest at a private family burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Prior Lake, MN.
On June 20, 1945 in Jordan, MN, Gary Victor was born to parents, Philip and Florence (Griep) Eiden. He was a graduate from Jordan High School. Gary proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. He met the love of his life, Joan Mary Langenberger at a wedding dance. On June 11, 1966 at St Agnes Catholic Church, St. Paul, MN, they declared their love for each other. Gary and Joan were blessed with three children, Theresa, Karen and Steven.
For over 40 years, Gary worked as a heavy equipment operator for Cargill, Inc. After retirement, he and Joan relished the time spent at the cabin on Little Sand Lake in Park Rapids. In his spare time, Gary loved being outdoors, fishing and enjoying the wildlife. He especially loved feeding the birds and the deer.
Gary was a loving and caring husband, father and grandpa. He truly enjoyed the conversations and laughs with family and friends. Gary was full of life and enjoyed life!
Left to honor Gary’s life and mourn the death is his wife of 51 years, Joan; children, Theresa Eiden, Karen (Troy) Brown, Steven Eiden; grandson, Dylan Brown; siblings, Daniel (Fran) Eiden, Philip (Ellen) Eiden, Florence (Glen) Deutsch; brother-in-law, Clem (Marlys) Kreuser; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death and there to welcome Gary home is his infant daughter, Julie Lynn; parents, Philip and Florence; siblings, Patricia Kreuser, Lila (LeRoy) Bauer, David Eiden; sister-in-law; Carol Kreuser and niece Diane Hentges.
