Georgette Leona was born on July 4, 1947 in Red Wing, MN. She was the oldest child born to Willard Albert Christ and Delores Emma Lydia (Winterfeldt) Gutzmer. Georgette graduated from Orono High School in 1965 before going to beauty school to follow in her mother’s footsteps. After working a few years at her mother’s beauty salon, she shifted careers to clerical work for Target for 15 years and eventually was a bank teller for many years in Jordan and Belle Plaine.

From start to finish, Georgette’s life was centered around her family. Georgette was blessed to marry her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Robert “Bob” Kearin on June 25, 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, MN, shortly after Bob had completed his basic training for the United States Army. Together they moved to Anchorage, Alaska for two years where they met several life-long friends. Before Bob was honorably discharged, they were stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Georgette and Bob’s lives were enriched when they were blessed with two children, Kristin and Kurt. As a family they lived in several cities in Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota before eventually settling in Jordan and then Belle Plaine, Minnesota where they built their dream home. For the last 3.5 years, Georgette lived at Crestview Senior Community in Blaine, Minnesota.

Georgette loved people and loved her family. Together, they embarked on many vacations to destinations like Florida, California, Arizona, Wyoming, Canada and Mexico; all of these trips had one thing in common: visiting family. She cherished family gatherings and reunions, spoiling her grandchildren, playing cards and sharing laughter with all of the cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended relatives. Georgette loved to host and attend social gatherings and would always show up late, even if she was the host! She enjoyed cooking and baking and collecting things like beanie-babies. Georgette had a special talent for connecting with people and sharing her love with them. She never missed sending cards and giving gifts to all of her relatives and friends for special occasions. She spent time on each item, making sure they were unique to each person, and she wouldn’t give up until she found the perfect gift.

Georgette also took pride in her Fourth of July birthday and celebrated accordingly! She celebrated each season of the year with her outfits and décor that she collected over many years. She was also dedicated to her faith and volunteered regularly at Hope Lutheran Church in Jordan as a part of the Altar Guild, ushering, serving meals and contributing behind the scenes.

Giving, kind, generous, and full of laughter, Georgette will be forever missed and loved by children Kristin (Kraig) Anderson and Kurt (Stacey) Kearin; grandchildren Tim (Brittany) Anderson, Michael (Madison) Anderson, Ellie Kearin, Will Kearin and Quinn Kearin; great-granddaughter Penelope Anderson; sister Kathy McCann and other relatives and friends.

Reunited in Heaven with her husband of 45 1/2 years, Bob Kearin; father Willard Gutzmer, mother Delores Haynes, and stepfathers Max Haynes and John Nazaroff; sister Dianna Schaffer, infant brothers Jerry and Stanley, and brother Steven Gutzmer.
