She was born on September 15, 1935, in Dickinson, North Dakota to Frank and Pauline (Kostelecky) Kovash. She was a devoted wife to her husband Wilfred (Willie) Fritz, for over 66 years and was a loving and dedicated mother to her five children. Georgia’s family was always a priority. She always made sure that holidays with family were filled with love and homemade food made to perfection.
Georgia grew up the youngest of four children. She learned to cook and bake food for her family at a young age. Through her adult years, she loved to always try a new recipe for her family. As her daughters grew up, Georgia taught each of them how to follow a recipe as well. Everyone loved her cooking; she will forever be known as the best cook ever!
Georgia made sure her children were always dressed well, especially for church. While Georgia’s children were growing, she sewed many of their clothes. During the holidays, it was common for her three daughters to show up to special events wearing matching dresses along with coordinating outfits from her two sons.
Georgia worked at the Worthington Regional Hospital for 25 years. Georgia was the first-person visitors saw as they walked through the door to visit a sick friend or relative. As she did at home, she worked to make life just a bit easier for anyone looking for assistance or needing support.
After retiring, Georgia and Willie embarked on new adventures, traveling in their RV to winter destinations in Arizona and Texas. They made new friends along the way and were fortunate to explore Mexico and share precious moments with Willie’s siblings who were also traveling in the same areas.
Georgia found solace in her faith and worshiped at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, and St. Michael Catholic Church in Prior Lake, MN.
Georgia is survived by her five children: Dean Fritz (Kate), Janet Marino (Salvatore), Susan Lee (Jim), Denise Hovick (Bob), and John Fritz (Nell). She will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren: Michelle Oliver (Jamar), Jessica Wilson (Aaron), Mariah Laffey (Jake), Nathan Lee, Megan Hovick, Sam Hovick, Joseph Marino, Salvatore Marino, Molly Hovick and Keon Conely. Georgia was also a cherished great-grandmother to Lucas Lukasiewicz, Keira Oliver, Cameron Wilson, and Rylee Laffey.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Wilfred Fritz, her parents, Pauline, and Frank Kovash, one brother, Laudie Kovash and two sisters, Hattie (Kovash) Oster, Caroline (Kovash) Schleder, and grandson Jacob Curtis Hovick.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ballard Sunder Funeral Home in Prior Lake, MN.
