Gwen Lundahl, of Prior Lake, went home to Heaven the morning of June 22, 2019 at the age of 64. She was a wonderful woman and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Prior Lake Baptist Church (5690 Credit River Road SE) in Prior Lake. Pastor Samuel Choi will preside. Gwen will be laid to rest at Spring Lake Cemetery.
Gwen was born in Minneapolis on April 28, 1955. As a baby, she was adopted into the loving home of Robert & Dorothy Miller. Gwen loved growing up in Shakopee with her younger brother, David. She was always a homebody and quickly learned all the skills required to be a loving homemaker. Gwen was especially talented in the kitchen.
In 1973, Gwen graduated from Shakopee High School. She worked at St. Francis Hospital for a short time before attending Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna. She intended to get a secretarial degree, but she came out with an MRS instead. The first time Tom Lundahl saw Gwen standing in front of Old Main, he knew he was going to marry her. Tom & Gwen exchanged wedding vows on September 30, 1977 at Fourth Baptist Church in Minneapolis.
Their marriage was blessed with three wonderful children, Aaron, Jessica & Joel. They eventually settled in Prior Lake to raise their kids. As a family, they enjoyed summer vacations up north and get-togethers with extended family.
A strong faith was at the center of Gwen & Tom’s marriage, and they passed this on to their children as well. Gwen was very active in Prior Lake Baptist Church. She helped clean the church, worked in the Nursery and served as a Teacher’s Aid in the school. Gwen touched a lot of people through her service and had a huge impact on many lives.
In her free time, Gwen loved being on the back of the motorcycle with Tom. They put a lot of miles on their bike in search of the best pie, but no slice ever compared to Gwen’s baking. Tom & Gwen would go on weekend getaways to bed & breakfasts. They also took a memorable trip around the perimeter of Lake Michigan. Some of their best memories were spent together on their motorcycle.
The only thing Gwen enjoyed more than being on the motorcycle was spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mom to her kids, but Gwen was an even better “Mimi” to Cole, Shelby, Owen & Miller. Her grandkids were her world, and she treasured every minute spent with them. Gwen was the ultimate caregiver and homemaker. She was strong and selfless. She served others masterfully without ever expecting anything in return. Gwen was always ready with a homecooked meal of mashed potatoes & gravy, corn and roast beef. Her cooking was phenomenal and could fix almost any problem.
On November 7, 2014, Gwen’s world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with cancer. She fought the disease with a fierce determination. Jesus Christ was her guide and her support throughout her illness. After a 4½ year long battle, He called her home to Heaven.
Gwen will always be remembered for her servant’s heart. She was easy to love and will be missed deeply by all the people she impacted during her life. Gwen will live on in the hearts of family. She is forever loved by her husband, Tom Lundahl; children, Aaron (Kristin) Lundahl, Jessica (Jason) Paggen, Joel (Sarah) Lundahl; grandkids, Cole, Shelby, Owen & Miller; brother, David (Anna-Marie) Miller. She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Robert & Dorothy Miller.
