Howard Luick

Howard Luick, age 87, of Prior Lake, MN, passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Howards honor from 10AM-12PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St. SE, Prior Lake.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at McKenna Crossing and Optum Hospice for their compassionate care in Howard's final days.

Howard Grant Luick, born on June 2, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN. The beloved son of Homer and Gudrun Luick, Howard was a man of integrity, dedication, and warmth. He pursued his education at the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with a degree in Business. On May 21, 1960, Howard married Janice Nemitz, with whom he shared 22 beautiful years until her passing on May 27, 1982. He found love again and remarried Lyn Lucas on April 16, 1984, with whom he spent the remainder of his life.

Howard's professional journey was marked by a deep commitment to the banking industry. He spent many years at Northwest Bank before becoming the president of Oakley National Bank in Buffalo, MN. Under his leadership, the bank flourished until it was acquired by KleinBank, where he continued to serve until his retirement.

Beyond his career, Howard was a man of many passions. He had a lifelong love for hunting and fishing, often spending time hunting with the same gang year after year. Howard was also an avid car enthusiast, with a particular fondness for Corvettes. His pride and joy was a 1955 Chevy, which he lovingly rebuilt years later, rekindling memories of his younger days when he raced the same car with great enthusiasm.

A man of endless curiosity and skill, Howard could fix just about anything and took great pleasure in tackling various projects. His meticulous nature and willingness to lend a helping hand were well-known among his family and friends.

His family was his greatest pride, and he was a loving father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Howard is survived by his devoted wife, Lyn; children, Doug (Jennifer) Luick, Roxanne Luick, and Brad (MaryAnne) Lucas; grandchildren, Sam Luick, Griffin Luick, Caroline Lucas, Charlie Luick, and Gavin Luick.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Janice; brother, Homer Jr; and parents, Homer and Gudrun Luick.

Howard Luick was a kind and generous man, a wonderful father, and a devoted husband. His legacy of love, hard work, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
