On March 10, 1937 parents William and Vieno (Leiviska) celebrated the birth of their son, Hubert Wayne Boyer. Along with his four older siblings, Hubert grew up on a farm in Aitkin, MN. During this time, he learned many life skills and the value of hard work. After graduating high school in 1954, he quickly enlisted in the Air Force. Hubert was stationed in both Idaho and San Antonio, where he served as an accountant.
After his honorable discharge, Hubert returned to Minnesota and married a young woman named Doris (Turner). During this time, he continued his education at the University of Minnesota. Hubert worked as a CPA at various firms until July of 1980 when he began his own firm “Boyer and Company” in Burnsville. He loved going to work, even more so when his daughter and granddaughters were able to join him in the company.
Hubert was a true family man! Whether it was immediate or extended family, Hubert enjoyed spending time with his family. When the children were young, they road tripped west of the Mississippi. Regardless of the weather, they always camped in a tent. At home, Hubert cooked his signature meal, Spanish Rice, for the family.
In 1992, Hubert experienced the loss of his wife Doris. While this was a difficult time, the family relied on one another. Hubert also found support from his church, community, and friends. He found great comfort in his friendship with Cecelia, another widower. On October 15, 1993, Hubert and Cecelia exchanged wedding vows at Holy Trinity United Methodist.
Together, they traveled from Maine to Oregan and everywhere in between. With Cecelia’s encouragement, Hubert upgraded from a tent to a motorhome. An avid hunter and fisherman, Hubert shared this passion with his family. His most memorable trip was fly fishing on horseback in Montana with his late son Kim.
Hubert was a man of few words. When he spoke, his words made an impact. Generous with his time and talents, Hubert was a genuinely compassionate individual.
Left to celebrate Hubert’s life and mourn his death is his wife, Cecelia Boyer; daughters, Kelly (Todd) Loose, Jeanne (Jeff) Hager; daughter-in-law, Irmgard Boyer; grandchildren, Ashley (Tim) Elsner, Chelsea (Trevor Anderson) Loose, Joseph Hager, Julia Hager, Joshua Hager; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Austin, Abigail, and another great-grandson on the way; siblings, Richard Boyer, Dorothy Insley, Kenneth (Gloria) Boyer, Lloyd (Patricia) Boyer; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Hubert was welcomed home in Heaven by his wife, Doris; their sons, Kim and Kerry; and his parents, William and Vieno.
