Jack Mccue

Jack Milo McCue, age 15 of Savage, was taken too soon Sunday, November 5, 2017. The family will greet friends Monday, November 13 from 4-7PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant St. SE, Prior Lake. A memorial service will be Tuesday, November 14 at 4PM with a visitation 1-hour prior, all at Shepherd of the Lake, 3611 North Berens Rd NW, Prior Lake. Pastor Adam Teske will preside.

On December 16, 2001 at Methodist Hospital, parents Jamie and Nancy McCue welcomed their son, Jack Milo McCue, into the world. He was the youngest of three children. From a young age, Jack had an adventurous spirit—he loved exploring and experiencing new things. Jack had a fascination with trucks, whether it was monster or construction trucks. He attended Monster Jam countless times with his family. Later, this passion transformed into four-wheeling. Through school, Jack was active in hockey, cross country, Nordic skiing, and his favorite sport, lacrosse.

Spending time with family and friends was the most important thing in Jack’s life. With friends, he enjoyed hanging out and playing video games. Along with his family, Jack road tripped across the country traveling to Portland, Maine, New Orleans, the Grand Canyon and far beyond. Just last year, Jack had his first taste of independence as he took a solo flight to visit extended family.

In the summers, the family spent time at the cabin on Blanche Lake. They also camped and took canoe trips to the Boundary Waters. A member of the cub scouts, if only for the outdoor excursions, Jack had an appreciation of nature. With his dad, he had memorable hunting and fishing trips—Jack shot a deer during opener 2017!

But family time wasn’t all fun and games, as Jack was his grandparents’ go-to for yard maintenance. Always grateful for Jack’s willingness to help, they often treated him to day trips around the metro. They visited nearly every museum and went to Jack’s choice of restaurant—even if it meant Sonic at -20 in the winter.

Jack was an exceptional popcorn maker! He knew the perfect ratio of salt to butter. He had an eclectic appreciation of music, from the Beatles to rap. He was tight-knit with his siblings, family, and friends. But above all things, Jack was a sweet, gentle boy who cared deeply for others. When Jack applied for his driver’s permit, he listed himself as a potential organ and tissue donor. Even in death, Jack’s generosity continues in the gift of life that he has given to others through donation.

Despite the love and support Jack received, he could not shake the weight of depression. For those who read this and are in the grasp of depression, Jack’s family encourages you to reach out to others for help.

Jack will be greatly missed by his parents, Nancy and Jamie McCue; siblings, Josh, Cassondra and Sidney; grandparents, John & Joyce McCue and Del & Marilyn Strand; aunts and uncles, Peggy (David), Terri (Matt), Sue (Rob), Dave (Linda); cousins, many close relatives, and a lot of great friends; four legged friends, Kobe, Bella, Chevy, and Jovie.

The McCue family is proudly cared for by the staff of Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation.
