John “Jack” Trask, age 84 of Savage, formerly of Eden Prairie, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 28, 2021 after spending the Thanksgiving weekend with his family. A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 11AM with a visitation 1-hour prior at Living Christ Lutheran Church, 820 Lake Drive, Chanhassen, MN. Pastor Mark Tewes will preside, and Jack will be laid to rest at Pioneer Cemetery in Chanhassen.
On April 11, 1937, John Lee Trask was born in Elk River, MN to parents Mark and Hazel (Roggatz) Trask. Along with his older brother, Jack grew up in Elk River. In his youth, Jack was athletic and participated in football, basketball, and baseball.
Following his high school graduation, Jack furthered his education at technical school. He worked as a draftsman with Univac, now IBM, for many years. In later years, Jack would start his own management consultant firm. In his free time, Jack enjoyed carpentry, volunteering at church, cheering on the Vikings, and having monthly lunches with his lifelong friends from high school.
On March 18, 1960, Jack was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Irene Salk, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Elk River. They were blessed with 59 years together and a tightknit family. Over the years, the family lived in various places—Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Rochester, and eventually Eden Prairie.
Jack was a dedicated husband, supportive father, and later proud “Bah” and “Bah-pa” to his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with family, especially to the Wisconsin Dells, and outings to theaters, museums, and other cultural events. No matter the moment, big or small, Jack made his family feel loved and supported.
An upbeat and humorous man, Jack is loved and missed by his daughters, Lisa (Danny) Trask and Paula (Thomas) Brown; grandchildren, Erica Trask, Joshua Brown, and Jordan Brown; great granddaughter, Everly Almaraz; brother-in-law, John (Lorraine) Salk; sister-in-law, Lynne Kopiske; other loving relatives and friends.
Jack is reunited in Heaven with his wife, Irene Trask; parents, Mark and Hazel Trask; brother, Jim (Bette) Trask.
