Janice “Jan” Prindle, age 76, of Shakopee, MN, passed away on May 15, 2023. Jan will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis on Tuesday, June 27 at 2:00 PM.
Janice Karen was born on January 12, 1947 to Ford and Margaret (Johnson) Peters in Red Wing, MN. An only child, Jan grew up around the Minneapolis area and attended grade school and high school in the city. In high school, Jan met John Prindle, but didn’t get to know him until they connected at their five-year class reunion once John had returned from his military service. A couple of party games with friends later, they were dating, and would begin a lifelong journey together. Six or seven years later, Jan and John were united in marriage at Messiah Lutheran Church in Minneapolis on August 14, 1971. Together, they were blessed with two children, Eric and Jason. As a family, they moved to St. Louis Park and resided there for some time. They enjoyed fishing and camping in northern Minnesota and shared many memories together, including the time a porcupine decided to eat a hole into the tent to go after some baked goods. Eventually, John and Jan moved to Shakopee. Jan enjoyed many hobbies- She loved to sew and quilt, and sold pillows and pillow-cases at numerous craft shows. She also enjoyed bowling in a league with her friends, and watching and feeding birds. Most of all, Jan loved being a grandma and spending quality time with her family.
Jan had a huge smile that could light up any room. Loving, caring, creative, and patient, she will be greatly missed by her husband of nearly 52 years, John Prindle; son, Eric (Kim) Prindle; grandchildren, Hunter and Kylie; dear friends, Sandy and Larry and Bob; her furry friend, Roxie; other relatives and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jason Prindle; and her parents.
