Entering this world on Friday October 13th, was the loving, spit fire Jean Marie Sames Rademacher. The 3rd oldest of 10 to Cyril (Cy) and Mildred (Millie) Sames. She grew up in Shakopee MN with her family, where there were always shorthair puppies and all the neighborhood kids/cousins. She would clean the house with her family listening to the Sound of Music and the Flying Nun on album. The family owned and operated Cy’s Amoco where they all took turns running the full-service pumps and checking oil. She went to St. Margarette’s for school but would sneak into the Shakopee High School dances. She attended Mankato State for a while and graduated from MN school of Business as a legal secretary.
Growing up in the 60s, a true Hippie at heart, she radiated peace, love, and happiness. She experienced some trauma in her young life losing her brother and best friend at 15 and losing her left eye at 18 in a bad car crash. These experiences molded her to never leave without an “I love you” and a hug. It also taught her to judge others from their beauty within and to find the positive and humor in life.
She married Larry in 1973 and shared 51 years of life together with their three remarkable, wonderful, absolutely beautiful children, Justin, Heidi, and Abbey. She planned it all and together the family went road tripping across the U.S and spent many weekends fishing and swimming at the cabin, playing cards (Sheepshead, 500, Euchre, Canasta), dancing and singing in the kitchen, and just about any game creating laughter and love everywhere she went. Expanding the family with the addition of Laura, Amy, and Tim to which she was a card-carrying member of the Bestest Mother-In-law, accepting all of them with open arms. Being a grandmother was Jeanie’s biggest pride; she was so incredibly in love with Dylan and Anna. She loved to experience life through their eyes. She taught them to read, respect everyone, and created everlasting memories. She would ask “So… What did you learn?” teaching them to always learn from the mistakes.
She worked at A&W, Minnegasco, and did the “books” for the Station (Cy’s Amoco). However, the job that was her life and passion was raising not only her own three children, and 6 younger siblings but 278 daycare children through “Jean’s Creative Play.” All of those children knowing how to read by the time they went to kindergarten.
She was a member of the “Fun Bunch”, “Dumb and Dumber Crafting” club, 500 Club, and Thursday Breakfast club. She herself was a girl scout and troop leader for her two daughters. She kept herself busy with bowling league (Tequilla frames), golfing, softball (catcher), a coach for tee-ball, basketball, softball, and volleyball.
She believed in not making pie crust promises, all people should be treated with respect, cheering for the play and not the player, and in being strong in your beliefs but soft with your hands. She also believed everyone should have a good time and join her in a shot of Tequilla. She was a true artist and loved to be creative, she believed everything and anything could be made into a game. She was a smartass Sames, sarcastic as hell, and her laugh was everything. Through all the ups and downs in life she found the laughter, even through dementia. The biggest cheerleader and absolute best friend will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband Larry, son Justin (Laura) Rademacher, daughters Heidi (Amy), Abbey (Tim), her two grandchildren Dylan and Anna Rademacher, and three grand doggers Ronon, Tucker, and Bailey. Her siblings: Don Sames, Judy Vegliante, Mary (Mike) Bemis, Chris Thon, Cindy (Steve) McGinnis, Pete (Jackie) Sames, Dave Sames. Many nieces, nephews, God Children, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in passing by parents Cy and Mille, Mother and Father-in-law Pete and Esther Rademacher, brothers Danny and Tommy, sisters-in-law Donna Mae and Denise, brother in-law Harley Thon, niece Katherine Lang as well as many family and friends who are waiting for her with open arms.
Celebration of life will be held on Friday November 22nd at the Shakopee VFW post 4046. Visitation will occur from 3-5, with a short service/eulogy reading at 5, food and party will follow to celebrate this wonderful woman, Jean Marie.
