Jerry Hafermann

Gerald (Jerry) Hafermann, age 88 formerly of Prior Lake passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Arlene; children, Deb (Dave) Sagisser, Scott (Deanna) Hafermann, Kevin (Betsy) Hafermann, Tammy (Jeff) Hafermann; stepchildren, Lori Zenk, Jim (Suzanne) Zenk; grandchildren: Amy, Krissy, Bryan, Nicole, Lauren, Hailey, Parker, Kendall, Tanner, and Samantha; sister Carol Rector; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Earl and Edna Hafermann, his wife Jeanette, daughters, Diane and Nettie, and siblings, Doug, Jeanette, and Steve.

Jerry and Jeanette built their home in Prior Lake where they raised a family together until Jeanette’s passing. He married Arlene in 1996 and they enjoyed life in Prior Lake until retiring to Arizona. Jerry enjoyed stock car racing, almost all sports (playing and coaching), hunting, fishing, and was an active member of the Prior Lake Fire & Rescue for 30 years. Jerry worked alongside his father running the B&D Bar in Prior Lake, as well as being an owner operator with the Prior Lake Bus Association. Jerry also worked with Klingberg Excavating.

Jerry lived the majority of his life in Prior Lake surrounding himself with his family and friends but also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Vergas, MN. His smile, wit, and laugh will never be forgotten. His kindness, generosity, and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jerry on March 9, 2024 at the Ballard Sunder Funeral Home in Prior Lake (4565 Pleasant Street) from 11 AM – 1 PM. There will be some brief Words of Remembrance at 12:30 PM. Following the Celebration of Life, Jerry will be laid to rest at the St. Michael Cemetery in Prior Lake. A small reception will be held following internment at the Prior Lake VFW.
