His son, Aaron Langsweirdt, will lead the service, and Jerry’s beloved grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be distributed in Jerry’s honor by the family.

Born on November 23, 1938, Jerry was the second of four children to Gerard and Eleanor (Gorecki) Langsweirdt. He grew up in Taunton, where he embraced small-town life alongside his siblings, Geraldine, Bob, and Larry. Even as a young boy, Jerry’s enthusiasm and work ethic shone through—he thrived in 4H, proudly showing chickens at the State Fair, and spent his youth working at his family’s general store.

After graduating from high school in 1956, Jerry attended Mankato State University, where he was active in the Newman Club and found his calling in education. He joined the Jordan School District as an English teacher and later earned his Master’s Degree to become Jordan High School’s beloved Guidance Counselor. But Jerry’s role at JHS went far beyond academics. For over 40 years, “Mr. L.” was a fixture in Jordan High School’s halls, stadiums, and auditoriums. He never missed a game, concert, or play, serving as the school’s iconic announcer and famously serenading the Homecoming Queen with Sweetheart of Jordan High. He mentored students through National Honor Society, Knowledge Bowl, One Act Plays, and more, always offering encouragement and support. Whether rallying the crowd at a sporting event or quietly guiding a student toward their future, Mr. L. made every person feel seen and valued. Even after retirement, Mr. L continued to connect with Jordan’s youth through substitute teaching and announcing ballgames. His dedication to JHS and its students left an indelible mark on the school and the countless lives he touched.

Beyond education, Jerry had a passion for his community. A true servant leader, Jerry gave his time to countless organizations, including the Parks & Rec Commission, Community Theatre, JC’s, Commercial Club, Jordan Lions, and St. John’s Choir. He was instrumental in the effort to “Save the Falls,” always believing that if you want to make your community better, you have to work for it—and he did. He spent nearly 40 years as a teller at Canterbury Park, where he not only served as a teller but also won over hearts with his warm personality and powerful voice—often stepping up to sing the National Anthem.

Despite his busy career and community involvement, Jerry’s greatest joy was his family. In Jordan, he met and married fellow teacher Cheryl Bohnenstingel, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Though Jerry was not a natural traveler, he made sure his children—Sarah, Rachel, and Aaron—experienced the world, embarking on road trips that took them from one coast to the other. At home, he tended to his lush flower and vegetable gardens, a passion he passed down to Rachel. Jerry loved following his grandchildren in their activities and was always one of their biggest supporters.

Jerry Langsweirdt was humble, generous, kind and forever an optimist. He had a rare gift for bringing out the best in everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the students he inspired, the community he strengthened, and the family who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Langsweirdt; children, Sarah Flynn, Rachel (Paul) Radermacher, and Aaron (Dana Kauzlarich Miller) Langsweirdt; grandchildren, Sam (Mike) Winterfeldt, David (Jane) Flynn, Megan Radermacher, Lauren Radermacher, Will Radermacher, Noah Miller, and Ansley Miller; great-grandchildren, Ben & Will; sister, Geraldine Esser; sister-in-law, Lori Langsweirdt; and many dear friends, colleagues, and former students.

Welcoming him into Heaven are his parents, Gerard & Eleanor Langsweirdt; brothers, Bob and Larry Langsweirdt; and brother-in-law, Bob Esser.

Jerry’s was a life well lived, and his presence will be deeply missed.
