Joan Marion Moberg

Joan Marion Moberg, age 90, of Jordan, passed away on September 6, 2024.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 1:30 PM at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler, MN.

Joan will be laid to rest at Opdal Cemetery in Florence, MN on October 19, 2024, at 2:15 PM.

Joan Marion Moberg was born to Lloyd E. and Anna (Jerpbak) Blegen on August 17, 1934, on a farm in Lyon County, near Florence, Minnesota where she attended school. After she completed the third grade, she moved with her parents to a farm three miles northwest of Florence and attended school in Tyler, MN. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1952. On November 9, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Moberg, at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler, MN. While her new husband finished his Air Force service and his overseas commitment, Joan stayed in Tyler with her parents and worked at the Brentwood Egg Company. When Ray returned from overseas, they moved to Sewart Air Force Base in TN. Then in 1956, she and her husband moved to Brookings, South Dakota where she worked at the South Dakota State University storehouse until Ray graduated from college. In 1960, they moved to Eagan, MN, where Joan raised their two sons. When Ray retired in 1990, they moved back to her family farm near Tyler, MN. Ray preceded her in death on February 7, 2003. After his death, Joan lived on the farm until November of 2019 when she moved to the Danebod Apartments in Tyler, MN where she lived until she moved in June of 2023 to Oak Terrace Senior Living of Jordan, MN.

Joan was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Tyler, MN. She was baptized at Opdal Lutheran Church in Florence, MN and confirmed and married at First English. She was active in the women’s Bible study group at church. She loved to read, and she especially enjoyed spending time outdoors going for a walk or mowing. Her hobby was her granddaughters.

She was a loving wife, and a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her sons and their families, Reverend Steven (Teresa) Moberg of Maple Grove, MN and Kent (Lisa) of Jordan, MN: four grandchildren Melissa (Matthew), Marin (Aaron), Evan, and Brett (Benjamin); and her 7 great grandchildren, Adalind, Oliver, Sawyer, Porter, Ryder, Carter and Weston, and her brother Curtis (Darlene) Blegen of Vadnais Heights, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray and her father and mother Lloyd and Anna.
