Kathy (Schultz) Siler
Kathleen Ann was born on July 21, 1944 in Shakopee, MN, to parents Donald E. and Elizabeth M (Ablen) Schultz. She was the third of eight children. Kathy’s childhood years were spent in Shakopee, with graduating from Shakopee Senior High in 1962.
After high school, Kathy married William Siler and they were blessed with two children, Marc and Kara, they finally settled down in Florida. Unfortunately the marriage dissolved, yet Kathy spent the next 30 years in the sunshine state. In 2002, Kathy moved back to Minnesota to be closer to her family and worked for Mystic Lake Casino for 10 years.
A deep passion for crafts, Kathy was very talented and creative when it came to transforming something old, into something new. Belonging to a garden club, Kathy loved creating floral arrangements; she also enjoyed taking drives to take that special picture of trees, flowers or a house with special characteristics.
Kathy loved holidays, especially Christmas. From top to bottom, her home would transform to represent that season or special occasion. Displaying beautiful pillows, valances and table runners, Kathy’s home always celebrated the time and felt welcoming to everyone that entered. In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed crossword puzzles and talking to people of other ethnic backgrounds. A member of the Red Hat Society, she was also active at the Scott County Historical Society and the St. Mark’s C.C.W.
The passion in Kathy’s life was her family. A loving and caring daughter and mother, she always took great care of everyone. Kathy relished being a grandma and adored her brothers and sisters. A resident of Shakopee, Kathy was 68 years old when she passed away peacefully in the presence of her family the afternoon of Sunday, October 14, 2012 at her sister’s home in Shakopee.
Forever loved, Kathy will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kara Siler of Carver; son, Marc (Annette) Siler of Shakopee; grandchildren, Vincent and Angelita Siler; siblings, Donald Schultz of New Prague, Mary Hallich of Florida, Anita (Tom) Roeser of Shakopee, Monica (Delton) Giese of Shakopee, Elise (Les) Guthrie of Florida, Peter Schultz of Hackensack, Joseph Schultz of Chaska and many other loving relatives and friends.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Phyllis Schultz and nephew, Scott Hallich. Urn bearers for Kathy will be her children, Marc and Kara
The Mass of Catholic Burial will be on Wednesday, October 24 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior all at the Church of St. Mark, 350 S. Atwood Street, Shakopee. Father Thomas Boedy will officiate. Memorials are preferred to Kathy’s family.
The Siler family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Shakopee Chapel.
