Ken Goewey, of Prior Lake, passed away October 17, 2020 at the age of 70. Ken was a kind and generous man. He will be remembered always by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM with a time of gathering from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Hosanna Church (1690 Vierling Dr E) in Shakopee. Pastor Aaron Davitch will preside, and Ken’s step-son Brian will act as urn bearer. Memorials are preferred and will be distributed by Ken’s family in his memory.

On December 2, 1949, Harold & Elsa Goewey celebrated the birth of their son, Kenneth Lyle Goewey. Ken was the youngest of three boys. He loved growing up in South Saint Paul and tagging along with his brothers, Dean and Ray. As a boy, Ken loved the family camping trip they took each summer, as well as spending time at the family cabin in Big Lake on the Elk River, where Ken built his first boat. These trips sparked a sense of adventure in Ken, and he loved the outdoors.
As a teenager, Ken started skiing and joined the ski patrol. After graduating from high school, Ken enrolled at St. Cloud State. During his college years, he continued his work in the ski industry. He eventually left school to pursue his career full-time. Ken loved working at Powder Ridge and later Buck Hill. Over the years he managed the rental shop and kitchen. In the off-season he helped with maintenance and repairs.
Ken quickly realized he had a talent for building things and problem solving. He decided to leave the ski industry and pursue a career in construction. After getting his general contractor license, Ken started his own construction company, Ken’s Construction . He spent many years building homes before becoming a home inspector. Ken again started his own company, Accurate Inspections . Ken was so talented; if anything needed fixing, building, creating or problem solving… Ken could do it.
When he wasn’t working, Ken enjoyed being with the people he loved. He spent 25 happy years with his wife Camille before she passed away. Then in 2005, Ken was blessed with another loving relationship. He met Pat through Match.com, and they hit it off immediately. Their love blossomed and grew deeper each day. Ken and Pat exchanged wedding vows on May 5, 2007. Their marriage was blessed with lots of love and many great adventures.
Ken loved being on the water and owned many different cabin cruiser boats over the years. Together, Ken and Pat were able to pursue one of Ken’s lifelong dreams; in 2011-2012 they completed America’s Great Loop in their boat, 20BUCK$. It took them a full year to boat around the Eastern half of the United States and southern Canada. This was truly the trip of a lifetime. They made many wonderful memories and countless friends along the way. Both Ken and Pat were so proud of this accomplishment.
Ken and Pat also loved traveling, hiking, and scuba diving. Some of their favorite places to visit included Palau, Roatan, and the Caribbean Islands. In recent years, Ken and Pat spent extended time in Italy and New Zealand with their friends Judi and Rich.
Ken always had some kind of project going. He had a beautiful shop in their home where he could tinker and build things. Once they had parted ways with 20BUCK$, Ken started a new hobby, building beautiful remote-controlled boats. Ken loved being a member of the Edina Model Yacht Club . The group met often at Centennial Lakes to run their boats together. When the weather was too cold for boating, Ken loved snowmobiling. He spent countless hours cruising the trails in the winter, his favorite destination being the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Ken’s true passion after retiring was volunteering with the Heart Ministry through Hosanna Church. Ken used his talents for good. He enjoyed doing home repairs for anyone who needed a little help. Ken also participated in several church mission trips and helped pick up donations for those in need.
In 2019, Ken was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He was so strong and persevered through all of his treatments, never complaining and always full of hope and optimism. Throughout his life, Ken was kind, helpful and generous. He was so energetic and a real problem solver.
Ken will be remembered always by his loving wife, Pat Goewey; step-son, Brian (Melissa) Foote; granddaughters, Hannah & Audrey; brothers, Dean (Julie) Goewey and Ray (Denise) Goewey; other loving relatives and friends. Ken was greeted in Heaven by his wife, Camille Ronning Goewey; parents, Harold & Elsa Goewey.
