Kendra Yanta

Kendra Yanta, age 84, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away on August 15, 2024.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 9:30 – 11:00 AM with brief closing words at 11:15 AM and a reception to follow, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St SE, Prior Lake, MN. Kendra will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Peter, MN.

Kendra Irene grew up in St. Peter with her parents, Kenneth and Irene (Lund) Wolfe and younger brothers, Richard and Douglas. She attended school in St. Peter growing up and continued her education at Gustavus Adolphus College for a year. While in Minneapolis, Kendra met Martin Yanta and they were united in marriage on January 23, 1960. Together, they moved to Milwaukee and started a family, blessed with four children, Kenneth, Linda, Carleen, and Kim. They later moved to Waseca and Eagle Lake before finally settling in Prior Lake in 1973. Kendra was a dedicated homemaker while her children grew up and began working for Minnesota Corn Growers as an office administrator for over 20 years before her retirement.

As a family, Kendra, Martin, and the kids loved going on annual road trips each summer. All six traveled together, crammed into the station wagon. They always loved being on the water as well, boating and swimming on Prior Lake with family and friends. Kendra enjoyed a simple life. She loved watching her grandchildren grow and was active in their lives for many years. Her health late in life didn’t allow her to get to know her two great-grandchildren, but she would have loved both of them just as dearly! She enjoyed her last eight years of life in Savage Senior Living at Fenn Point, and especially cherished her weekly excursions away a few times a week to get lunch with her daughters.

Feisty and strong-willed, Kendra will be greatly missed by her loving daughters, Linda (Tom) Mork, Carleen (Greg) Swanson, and Kim Gleason; grandchildren, Sam (Coral) Swanson, Adam Swanson, Matthew (Alyssa) Swanson, Nicholas Gleason, Ben Gleason, and Maddie Gleason; great- grandchildren, Meredith Swanson and Adaline Swanson; brother, Doug Wolfe; and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded by her husband, Martin; son, Kenneth Yanta; son-in-law, Dave Gleason; parents; and brother, Richard Wolfe.
