Lillian Irene (Enerson) Stjernstrom passed away peacefully on January 29, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital, Shakopee, Minnesota at the age of 96 years with her family at her side.

Lillian was born on December 15, 1923 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Ener and Hilda (Johnson) Enerson. She graduated from Johnson High School in St. Paul in 1942. In 1943 she traveled to Washington D.C. to join the Army Signal Corps to assist in cracking the Japanese code. Lillian married Richard Stjernstrom on May 24, 1949 and the couple recently celebrated their 70 th wedding anniversary with family and friends.

Lillian worked for Mankato School District 77 including many years in the Mankato High (West) business office and Roosevelt Elementary as assistant to the principal.

Upon retirement, Lillian and Richard enjoyed visiting their three children, family and friends at their Largo, Florida and Cedar Lake, Wisconsin homes. Lillian enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, games, puzzles and going to the area casinos. Lillian discovered a talent for oil painting in her 70’s and produced many fine pieces of artwork.

In 2015, Lillian and Richard moved to All Saints Senior Living in Shakopee, Minnesota where they have many friends.

Left to honor her memory is her husband, Richard Stjernstrom; daughters Gail (Roger) Norland and Jean (Tom Moriarty) Stjernstrom and son Bruce (Kathy) Stjernstrom; grandchildren Rachael (Kurt) Flaten, Robert (Katherine) Norland, Melanie (Matt Anderson) Moriarty and Mark (Rachel Ward-Moriarty) Moriarty; and great-grandchildren Erick Flaten, Sam Flaten, Timothy Norland, Elijah Norland, Everett Anderson and Arlo Anderson.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents and brother Chester Enerson.

A memorial service honoring Lillian took place on February 1, 2020 at the All Saints Senior Living chapel with family and friends in attendance. A day of remembrance is planned on May 24, 2020 at the family cabin, Cedar Lake, Wisconsin. The family will forward monetary memorials to the American Heart Association.
