Lowell’s life story

Lowell D. Roehl
Lowell was born May 28, 1929 in Bellingham, MN. He was the youngest child of William and Ella (Pansch) Roehl. He was raised on the family farm. He served in the Minnesota National Guard and the US Army. Following his service, he moved to Minneapolis, where he met his wife, Oriette “Chris”.
After marrying, the couple moved to Bloomington, where they raised their two children. Lowell had many jobs, starting with carpentry and ending as a Production Coordinator in the computer and electronics industry. After retirement, Lowell and Chris moved south all the way to Burnsville. During retirement they attended more than 20 Elderhostel programs and took many bus tours, visiting nearly every state and also part of Europe. Lowell loved reading, watching sporting events, setting up estate sales as an Ebenezer Society volunteer, visiting casinos in Minnesota and nearby states, and visiting with family and friends – old and new. He had a great memory and loved to recount stories about things he’d done.

Lowell and Chris returned to Bloomington in October 2012, where Chris died in December. Lowell died unexpectedly on May 15th at St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center, where he was receiving rehab after a hospitalization.

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by daughter, Barbara (Kyle) Schroeder of Prior Lake, son, Douglas Roehl of Huron, SD; grandsons, Jordan and Braden Roehl; and extended family and friends. Interment of his ashes at Fort Snelling is pending. Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association and American Legion Post 441, Bellingham, MN.

The Roehl family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake chapel.
