On November 22, 1926, in Dupree, SD, Marcella was born to parents, Julius and Elizabeth (Schurmann) Schrempp. She was the fourth of sixth children. Marcella would reminisce about her growing up on the family farm and attending a one room school house in Eagle Butte, SD. At a young age, she also won the county spelling bee.

The family moved to Victoria, MN and soon after she met a neighbor “boy” for the first time as he returned home from his duties in the service. After dating for four years, she and Carl Notermann were married on November 22, 1949, at the Catholic Church in Norwood, MN. Being good Catholics, they had ten children.

Marcella was a waitress for five years at Vic and Elsie’s (Lola’s Lake House) on Lake Waconia. From there, she worked for nearly 20 years in housekeeping at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee.

She enjoyed quilting, baking, cooking and vegetable gardening which included canning as well. She always made sure that her family members were recipients of her hand made crocheted Christmas ornaments. Marcella cherished the coffee clutches with her nieces.

Marcella enjoyed traveling with her family to many places including Germany, Austria, Acapulco, Hawaii, Oregon, California and a Disneyland trip.

Known for her hard work, sense of humor and selflessness, Marcella received her angel wings as she died peacefully amongst her family on July 21, 2014 at St. Gertrude’s Health Care Center in Shakopee
