Margaret Cecelia Neubauer, age 96 of Jordan, entered eternal life on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11AM with a visitation 2-hours prior, all at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jordan. Margaret will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Her grandchildren will act as pallbearers and Father Neil Bakker will preside.
On September 1, 1922, Margaret was born to parents, Joseph and Anna (Hennes) Von Bank in Helena Township.
In her childhood, Margaret enjoyed attending school. Her favorite subject was math, but she excelled in all her courses and was frequently on the honor roll. She proudly served as the president of the St. Joseph Young Girls organization.
When at home, Margaret’s mother taught her many life-long skills—quilting, sewing, cross stitching, and embroidery. Following her graduation from Jordan High School in 1941, Margaret began working at Montgomery Wards and later at Northwest Airlines.
While the Maid of Honor at her sister’s wedding, Margaret was introduced to the best man, Leonard Neubauer. The two hit it off and continued corresponding when Leonard entered the service. Upon his return, the couple married on May 18, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter and 72 years together.
The couple briefly lived in Minneapolis while Leonard completed his schooling. They eventually moved back to Margaret’s family farm. Margaret spent her time helping on the farm, gardening, canning, cooking, baking, sewing and doing many needlearts projects. In the early years, Margaret and Leonard enjoyed dancing at the Prom Ballroom in St. Paul and the Spring Lake Pavilion. Whenever they played 500, Margaret always had the winning hand.
As Margaret’s family grew with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved to spend her time with them. An exceptional grandmother, she was very proud of her family.
Margaret was a faithful, loving individual who will be missed by her husband, Leonard; daughter, Bridget (Raymond) Pieper; grandchildren, Tim (Crystal) Pieper, Maizie (Tony) Scheffler, Chrissy (Mark) Duhme, Beth (Jamie) Tews, Brian (Emily Spear) Pieper, Nick (Megan) Pieper, Dan Pieper, Tracy (David) Cemensky, Maria (Max Prange) Pieper, Emily Pieper; great-grandchildren, Reece, Owen, Evelyn, Matthew, Benjamin, Raeanna, Thomas, Jacob, Michael, Jonathan, Julianne, Tyler, Lucas, Hannah, Maddilyn, Alice Margaret; sister-in-law, Dolores Von Bank; other relatives and friends
Margaret is greeted in Heaven by her parents; sister, Cleopha Neubauer; brothers, Joseph Von Bank and Gerald Von Bank.
