Marie E. Breimhorst

Marie Elizabeth Breimhorst was born on January 29, 1912 in St. Benedict, MN to parents, Theodore and Elizabeth (Wolf) Steinhoff. She was married to Martin Breimhorst on September 7, 1946 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in St. Benedict, MN. They were blessed with four children, James, Tom, Mike and Jeanne.

Marie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Jordan where she further participated in the Christian Mothers Society and the Catholic Aid Association.

She enjoyed crocheting afghans, and was delighted when she could give those away as gifts. Marie enjoyed volunteering at St. John’s Catholic school, where she worked with many of the children in helping them read and overseeing them on the playground.

At the age of 101, Marie Breimhorst entered God’s arms in the early evening hours of Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Mala Strana Health Care Center.

She is survived by children, James Breimhorst of Salem, OR., Tom (Shari) Breimhorst of West Lafayette, IN, Mike Breimhorst of Prior Lake, Jeanne Knight of East Haddam, CT.; grandchildren, Sarah, Kim, Kristen; several great grandchildren; sisters in law, Dorothy Breimhorst, Betty Steinhoff, Erma Steinhoff, Sister Marlene “Mag” Breimhorst, SSND; longtime friend and guardian, Margaret Hedstrom.

Marie is preceded in death by husband, Martin Breimhorst; grandson, Michael Pelkey; parents, Theodore and Elizabeth (Wolf) Steinhoff and siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 9:30-11:00 a.m. all at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jordan. Father Timothy Yanta will preside. Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Martin at Calvary Cemetery, Jordan.

Pallbearers will be Harold Vonbank, Dan Breimhorst, Earl Pint, Paul Hedstrom, Bob Hedstrom and Randy Steinhoff.

Memorials may be given to St. John’s Catholic School Building Fund in Jordan, Minnesota.

The Breimhorst family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation Services, Jordan Chapel.
