Mark Millar

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, Mark Arndt Millar, of Shakopee, Minnesota, passed away at home, age 67.

Mark was born September 15, 1954, in Alexandria, VA, as one of a set of identical twin boys (Mark and John), to Walter Kent Millar, Jr., and Roberta Kiely Millar. The Millar family lived in numerous western states until they settled in Minnesota.

Mark was an entrepreneur, specializing in engineering services, product design, and development, and was also a patent holder.

Mark and his wife Sherry shared many hobbies together, adopting several rescue Coonhounds throughout his life. He was especially fond of his horse Allura, and also enjoyed fishing and camping. He was an organic gardener, utilizing the French intensive method, growing herbs, vegetables, and flowers. He was also a gourmet cook, experimenting with global cuisines.

Mark was also interested in the news and issues of the day and global affairs, strongly influenced by his father’s years in the newspaper business.

As a donor, Mark gave the gift of life, generously sharing to help those in need.

In keeping with Mark’s lifestyle of being a friend to the earth, he will undergo an eco-friendly water cremation.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, and leaves behind his wife and life partner of 36 years, Sherry Leonardi, and Annabel, his Treeing Walker Coonhound. Siblings and their spouses include Donna Lynn Wham, Judi Little (Dave), Steve Millar (JoAnn), Martha Tessmer, Lisa McGinn (Mike), John Millar (Nancy), Nina Keeling, Arianne Millar, and their respective families. In-laws include Virginia Leonardi (mother-in-law), Louis Leonardi (brother-in-law), and Greg & Holly Leonardi (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), and many nieces and nephews.
